How to customize the information displayed in workouts on Apple Watch

Information displayed in the Apple Watch training app

Although the Apple Watch It can do much more, one of the reasons Tim Cook and company give us to buy one is sports. In fact, the Apple Watch Series 2 includes two improvements designed for athletes: greater resistance to water and a GPS that will allow us to do sports outdoors without having to take our iPhone with us. On the other hand, watchOS includes a app called Training to control our training sessions.

Although it is true that Train is a fairly basic application, it is also true that sometimes simplicity is a good thing. In any case, we also have the possibility to customize what information it will show the I Train application, and this is something we can do for each type of training, such as running, walking, cycling or swimming. In this article we will show you how to edit this information.

I train, the Apple Watch app to control our physical activity

Like many of the Apple smartwatch settings, to customize which measurements the Train app will show we will have to access the iPhone Watch app. Once open we will go to My watch / Training / During training see, from where we can select between the following options:

  • Various measurements. This is the option that is shown in the header image, although edited (something that we will explain later). As the name suggests, we will see various measurements such as distance, pulse, and training time.
  • A measurement. If you prefer, you can make only one measurement visible on the screen. If you want to see other measurements, you will have to turn the Digital Crown. Personally, I do not see much sense in this option unless we do a sport in which we also use another device that shows more data.

Edit measurements in the Apple Watch Training app

If we have selected the option Various measurements below we will see all the sports available so that we can also personalize what information to show in each of them. We can add or delete:

  • Duration.
  • Heart rate
  • Distance.
  • Current speed.
  • Average speed.
  • Active calories.
  • Total calories.

Edit training measurements

In capturing the header image we can only see the duration, heart rate and distance. I do not have the rest of the measurements activated because either I am not interested in seeing them while I am training or I can see them on the cycle computer. In any case, the word "customize" implies that this is something personal.

What measurements are you interested in seeing in the Train app while you are practicing sports?
