It is so rare that Saurik launches new applications in Cydia that when it does it causes a huge impact, and if it is also a tremendously useful application like Cydia Impactor then even more so. The creator of Cydia has just published in said application store this new tool that will allow you to remove any trace of Cydia from your device, leaving it as fresh from the factory with the same operating system installed and without the need for complex restoration or update processes. We give you the details below.
Why remove Cydia?
It may seem strange to many that someone wants to delete Cydia from their device or that an application like Cydia Impactor is launched when connecting your device to iTunes and clicking on restore you have everything done. But there are several reasons why it can be very useful.
- With Cydia Impactor you will leave your device restored, as it left the factory, without any rest of Cydia, applications or user data, but without changing the version of iOS. If you had iOS 8.4, that same version will be the one you have at the end of the process. With iTunes you could do the same, but always installing the latest version that Apple signs.
- Keeping the current version means that you can Jailbreak again later on. If you upgraded, you would probably lose that option.
- Everything is done from your device, without the need to connect to your computer. A process as simple as pressing a button.
Requirements
- iOS 8.3 and 8.4
- Compatible with all devices minus the iPod Touch 6G, of which there are no updates via OTA yet.
Procedure
- Make a backup of your device. Keep in mind that you will lose everything: photos, applications, data ...
- Your device must be on charge with more than 20% battery remaining.
- If you have the option to find my iPhone active, keep in mind that You will be asked for the password of the iCloud account associated with the device after restoration.
- Download Cydia Impactor from Cydia.
- Click on the icon of the application that has just appeared on your springboard.
- Click on "Delete all data and unjailbreak device" and confirm again in the window that appears.
- Do not do anything with your device until the process is complete.
Once completed, you must configure it from scratch, as if you had just taken it out of its newly purchased box.
other alternatives
Surely more than one of you know other alternatives, such as iLEX RAT o SemiRestore that we have already shown you on other occasions. Although its objective is similar, These two alternatives leave your device with the same version of iOS that you had but with Cydia installed, that is, keeping the Jailbreak.
after using cydia impactor can I do jb again?
I have restored the iphone 4s with cydia impactor, I have restored the backup and when I reconnect the iphone and it comes out again if I want to use the iPhone as if it were new or if I want to restore a copy. iPhone, what can I do?
What backup did you restore? From iCloud?
If I do this and then put the backup, does the jailbreak come back? Thanks.
No, you will need to jailbreak again
Then all my applications would remain but if the jailbreak, right?
Exactly, although I personally do not recommend restoring a backup made with Jailbreak on a device that does not have Jailbreak done ... it can give some stability problems
Hello friend, excellent post! Everything went wonderfully! Only so far that I wanted to jailbreak iPhone 4s with iOS 8.1.
It happens that I try to jailbreak with pangu and others but if it is too high the version tells me I can't, if it is too low it tells me that iTunes is out of date being the latest! So how do I jailbreak again?
friend remove the jailbreak with impactor, now can I update the ios? I'm on 8.4 and I want to upload it, can I? or will it give me trouble?
Friend, I am iOS 9.3.3; can I use impactor to restore my phone to when it was without jailbreak?
