AirPlay 2 is the way in which the Cupertino company has liked to make the audio products associated with our iOS and macOS devices smarter, and the reality is that it works extremely well. We are currently analyzing the Sonos alternative, the Beam model that has AirPlay 2 natively. Now the famous sound firm Denon also joins in launching products compatible with AirPlay 2 through its new sound bar. It is time to make all the speakers in our home smart, or at least that is what brands want, even classic ones like Denon.
This bi-amped soundbar with four channels of Class D digital amplification has been on the market for nearly six months, and It is available at this Amazon link for around 470 euros, which is not little. To be honest and speaking from experience, I find it difficult to recommend it in value for money considering what the Sonos Beam offers, although the sound quality of this Denon should presumably be superior. For its part, it has two mid / bass speakers and an external subwoofer to give it more power and stability in this area. It is therefore, compatible with DTS and Dolby Digital Plus, could not be otherwise in this Denon product.
This sound bar for our living room has also received an update that makes it fully compatible with Alexa, Amazon's virtual assistant. For its part, it is now also compatible with AirPlay 2 protocols, so beyond synchronizing it via Bluetooth and sending sound without loss, we will be able to add it to the multi-room system that we have mounted in our home with any other AirPlay 2 compatible product such as the Sonos Beam or the Apple HomePod.
If this Denon soundbar is no longer available, here is a selection of more models that may fit what you are looking for:
