Developer shows what Picture-in-Picture would look like on Apple TV 4

Apple-TV-4-PiP

When Apple introduced the fourth generation Apple TV with its tvOS operating system and revealed that it would have its own App Store available, we soon began to imagine what we could do with the new set-top box from Cupertino. Games was the first thing we thought about. The Apple TV would become a console for casual gamers and titles like Black Out show that it will. But the Apple TV 4 could still do a lot more if it weren't for Apple's restrictions, like not being able to use the Picture-in-Picture available on iPad iOS 9.

If I have to be honest, I think that the fact that Apple does not allow the PiP in the XNUMXth generation Apple TV it has more to do with going slowly and with good handwriting than with an imposed restriction. tvOS is in its first versions and until tvOS 9.2 we will not be able, for example, to create folders in which to put similar applications. Most likely, in a future update they will release Picture-in-Picture. Either way, the developer Steven Troughton-Smith has managed to unlock this feature and videotape what it would look like.

Picture-in-Picture on Apple TV 4

What you see in the video is a application that the developer has created to be able to see channels that broadcast for free on the Internet in streaming. Troughton-Smith has modified it to be able to enjoy a thumbnail video while searching for the next channel you want to watch. But not only that, but the video will be in miniature while we do practically anything, such as browsing our photos or the App Store. I'm still wondering what will happen if you play music at the same time, but chances are that at least the video audio stops.

What do you think of the tvOS Picture-in-Picture? Would you like to be able to use it on your fourth generation Apple TV?
