Display maker BOE delays its first delivery of OLED panels for the iPhone 12

BOE

Dress me slowly because I'm in a hurry. It seems that a manufacturer of screens is already late in delivering the first order of panels to be assembled in the next iPhone 12. Rumor has been going around for many weeks that because of the happy coronavirus pandemic, the next iPhones were going to be delayed to hit the market.

The truth is that when Ming-Chi Kuo started with this song, I was very skeptical. I thought there was room for maneuver for manufacturers to pitch in and finish preliminary testing and start production. Apparently not. Well, I prefer that they be delayed a few days, but that they manufacture well, that the rush is not good.

Last week already explained than the chip maker Broadcom subtly warned that it could not meet deadlines in supplying its modem chips to assemble into the next 12 iPhones.

Unfortunately, today we found out that BOE, Asian manufacturer of digital displays, will not be able to comply with the first shipment of panels to assemble in the new iPhone 12. What a fabric.

BOE is having trouble passing Apple's quality controls

According to the Korean website DDaily, the delay is due to the problems that this manufacturer is having to pass strict quality controls for OLED panels that your customer demands: Apple.

BOE is one of the world's leading manufacturers of LCD and OLED panels. It produces both large panels for televisions of many brands, as well as small panels for devices such as smartphones or smartwatches.

Currently it already manufactures panels for Apple incorporated into different types of devices, and now the supply of the new OLEDs for the new iPhone 12 was going to begin.

Fortunately, only expected to manufacture 20 percent of production for the iPhone 12. The big piece of cake was taken by Samsung. The remaining 80 percent of the required OLED panels will be supplied by Samsung Display. Hopefully these are not late. At this rate, this year's keynote will be for El Pilar….

They have wanted to save a few dollars by changing to another cheaper provider, but of course, and they have been froggy, it is already known that most of the time cheap is expensive.

I don't think it's because of price, since we are talking about 20% of production. Apple has always liked working with multiple vendors for the same components. Rumor has it that this production will stay for screen repairs when the devices are on the market. If this is so, all iPhone 12 will mount OLED Samsung Display panels. If not, it will be a lottery….
