Everyone knows that Facebook sells our data to third parties to offer us targeted advertising and I would only need to receive calls from people who want to sell me something because of my friend Zuckerberg who wants to have more money in his bank account.
Perhaps in a move to try to get people to add their phone number so they can get more profit from advertising sales, Facebook Messenger just updated the app. allowing users to log in through our phone number without using our Facebook account. Currently Facebook Messenger is the second most used messaging application in the world, with 700 million users, behind the 800 million of its office companion WhatsApp, which Facebook bought for 19.000 million dollars.
All users who access the service through their phone number will have the same advantages and access to the same information as users who access through their Facebook account, but it will also allow us to send invitations to contacts in our agenda who have their phone number registered on Facebook and who until now we did not know of their existence on the social network. At the moment this new function is only available in the United States, Canada, Peru and Venezuela but soon, other users will be able to access Facebook Messenger with their phone number.
