Facebook Messenger wants to become a Snapchat

Messenger, messages that self-destruct

Although they always deny it, many companies keep a record of all the activities we carry out through their services, including messaging applications, something that puts our privacy at risk, privacy that many users are not willing to give up, especially after the revelations of Snowden and the usual practices of governments, not just the American.

Facebook has always been characterized by being anything but discreet. Each time you add a new function, it always forces all users interested in keeping our data safe, to go through the configuration of the service and establish the settings that best suit our needs.

But it seems that Mark Zuckerberg wants to change the general opinion that many people have about his service and is testing Messenger, the messaging application. As we have seen in a couple of screenshots, Facebook is currently testing new options in the iOS version that would allow you to set the time it will take for the message to disappear on the receiver's device. This function is the same that Telegram users already have almost since its launch, where we can create private chats establishing the time in which we want the conversations to be deleted.

In case anyone had any questions about Facebook's interest in taking over Snapchat years agoHere we have the umpteenth proof that the guys at Facebook have always been interested in offering this service to all users of their messaging platform. And I say nth because previously you already tried it with the Slingshot application a couple of years ago, an application inspired almost entirely by Snapchat. What we do not know is if Facebook will finally add this option and when it may be available to the general public.
