It's not just the Apple Watch: Fitbit will also sell less in 2017

Fitbit down

Like AirPods right now, at the same moment we were able to buy an Apple Watch we saw that sales were very good, especially for a device that did not have a previous version on the market. Already in late 2016 / early 2017, Apple watch sales have begun to slow down, which at first could be taken as a lack of interest in the Cupertino smartwatch, but it seems that Fitbit will have problems too this year.

Fitbit, the top-selling wearable device brand globally, is not off to a good start in 2017, according to A study from Cleveland Research that was published by Bloomberg last week. The wearable device maker stopped all production in mid-December because devices are piling up in physical stores for not getting enough sales, something that does not seem that it will improve throughout this year.

Fitbit is not spared from bad sales either

The beginning of the year has been bad with Fitbit. There are some concerns that partners cannot get paid for all the product they have made because demand is too weak. The partners have completely stopped production for Fitbit because they are swimming in the product.

If we take into account that the Fitbit application is among the top positions in the App Store for free applications in some countries, which initially means that it is still popular, I personally get the impression that the market is a bit saturated, and I will explain myself: as is happening to the Apple Watch, those of us who most wanted an Apple watch bought it between spring 2015 and Christmas 2016. In the case of a watch that has a price of around € 400 and taking into account that the news of the new generations is not very important (we can practically do the same with the Series 1 as with the Series 2), there is nothing that invites us to change the clock every year as we have sometimes done with the iPhone, so The same thing will happen to wearables as to the PC or iPad: we will buy a lot every few years, which will translate into many sales when they are new, but less and less until something really catches our attention.

How do you see it?
