FlashRing: turn on the flashlight with the side switch [Jailbreak]

flashing

Have you ever been walking through a dark area and would have liked to turn on your iPhone's flashlight without having to turn on the screen? To turn on the Lantern of our iPhone, the normal method is to turn on the screen, remove the Control Center and touch on the flashlight icon. Or, if you have it disabled for security reasons, unlock the iPhone, remove the Control Center and touch the flashlight icon. Thanks to the jailbreak and a tweak called FlashRing there is an easier way: use the side switch.

FlashRing is one of those tweak that are very simple to use: we just have to open Cydia, find the tweak, install it, do a respring and it will start working directly. Or, well that's the theory, because not working on my iPhone 5s. Anyway, it is confirmed that it works from iPhone 6. Of course, there is something to keep in mind if we want to use this tweak.

The main problem we can run into when using FlashRing is that we will not be able to use the side switch to mute the iPhone as we did before installing the tweak. If you prefer to use this switch to turn on the flashlight, a solution to make up for the deficiency that it presents is to install, if you did not already have it, a tweak such as CCSettings with which we can add more switches in the Control Center, among which there would be one that would help us put the iPhone on silence.

It's clear that FlashRing will do very well for some users, but it won't be the best option for other users, including myself. I prefer to unlock the iPhone and turn on the flashlight with the usual method, but if there is something that the jailbreak gives us, they are options for all users.

Tweak Features

  • Name: FlashRing
  • Price: Free
  • Repository: BigBoss
  • Compatibility: iOS 9 (?)

The idea is not bad, but I would be satisfied if the flashlight could be turned on by tapping the HOME button three times and I do not understand why they do not implement it when the system already allows you to configure that button to perform various actions. When you are in the dark and you need light, what you least want is to open menus or move your finger up (if you have previously detected your fingerprint correctly) and press the flashlight icon ... with three touches and without looking, the matter would be resolved.
