Force Touch in cars? Synaptics thinks so

Touchscreens are everywhere. Although it is true that the iPhone was not the first phone with a touch screen, since 2007-2008 this type of screen dominates the market of the smartphones, but they are present in more and more devices (ask Samsung and its refrigerator with a giant tablet). Large touchscreens have become important infotainment systems in more modern cars and Synaptics thinks it would be very helpful if we could "feel" the screens.

With that idea in mind, Synaptics has teamed up with car accessory maker Valeo to create a new kind of car display. The intention of Synaptics is to create a screen that has the technology of the ClearForce company that provides pressure sensitivity y haptic response, something that owners of an Apple Watch or an iPhone 6s will understand perfectly. This screen would provide a more secure interface that would only support one finger, several at the same time and the haptic variable, allowing a driver to manipulate it without having to look at it.

Synaptics wants to include Force Touch in cars

Por el momento it is not known which manufacturers they will use this type of screen or when it will be available. In any case, Synaptics is right when it assures that it would be more secure. In the same way that happens with the 3D Touch, when we have reached the desired point, the iPhone indicates it with a vibration. If we take this to the road, when we are driving and we notice the haptic response, we will know that we have played where we wanted without having to take our eyes off the road.

It remains to be seen if Synaptics has more in mind to give us even more safety behind the wheel. If they could reduce the times we take our eyes off the road to 0 to manipulate these types of devices, much better. If it is what they have planned or not we will know in time.
