One of the "novelties," see the quotes, that Apple introduced with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus was what they called Retina Flash. This "new" system, and I use the quotation marks because it was already used in some applications such as Snapchat, puts the brightness of the iPhone screen to the maximum using a color tone that depends on what we want to photograph (such as the True Tone flash) to that the selfies come out well lit. retina Flash is only available for the latest iPhone models, unless you have jailbreak.
Thanks to the alternative store Cydia we can use many of the functions that Apple does not want us to use. As examples I would highlight the multitasking of the iPad Air or, already on your smartphone, the aforementioned Retina Flash or Live Photos, something that is also available on unsupported devices thanks to the jailbreak. In the case of the flash for the FaceTime camera, the tweak is called front flash.
When the iPhone 6s went on sale, FrontFlash was not doing fine on some devices. In my case, my iPhone 5s saw how the camera was blocked, although it worked correctly, we could not see what we were going to take the photo of, which did not make much sense. These problems have been fixed in the latest versions, so it is already worth leaving the tweak installed.
FrontFlash is one of those tweaks that are very easy to use by have no options to configure. Just do the search in Cydia, install the package, respring and start using it. When we have restarted our iPhone, we will see that we have the lightning icon available, which indicates that we can use the flash. We just have to touch this beam and then touch "yes", which will activate it in the same way that the flash is activated for the main camera.
There are Apple restrictions that are not understood or, rather, we do not want to understand. We could look for three feet to the cat and say that it is not available on the iPhone 5s because its screen and its front camera are not capable of taking good selfies (or it cannot analyze the shot well to illuminate more with one color and another), but the iPhone 6 has the same screen as iPhone 6s. I think I could use the Retina Flash without any problem. Oh well. The jailbreak comes to the rescue again.
