Galaxy S9 face scanner does not meet FaceID security level

In the end, it seems that the iPhone X has marked the steps of what we have seen during the MWC. And so, more than a dozen products have imitated its design and performance without caring the least about keeping the forms, that has happened with the FaceID.

Firms such as Samsung and ASUS claim to have included a facial recognition system in their devices that lives up to FaceID. Insurance experts contradict the brands and point out that the Samsung Galaxy S9 scanner does not reach the security levels set by FaceID.

By this they do not mean at all in terms of utility or speed of unlocking, in fact it is quite the opposite. Apparently the unlocking system of the Galaxy S9 is faster and more efficient than that of the iPhone X, but it is not more secure. To do this, first use a 2D facial scanner (the iPhone is a 3D scanner), combining it with the Iris scanner and using both systems at the same time if the system thinks it needs more information. This, according to CNET is fast but not more secure.

The three-dimensional face scanner of the iPhone X continues to appear more secure in the eyes of the security expert from whom CNET obtained the statements, despite the fact that the system of the Galaxy S9 provides a very similar user experience. This security expert is named Jan Krissler, known as Starbug from the websites he frequents. This has defined this Samsung system as "the new launch of something already existing." The rumors come true Samsung has changed the label, but not the operation. Something that does not surprise us at all, because apparently the brands have not yet been able to replicate the system used by Apple, something that did not happen in its day with the TouchID, which in a few months was included in a good number of Android terminals.
