The Mail app, like the iOS calendar app, seems to they are not receiving affection from Apple you would expect. The number of functions that some applications offer us is quite limited, so many users choose to use third-party applications.
Gmail, Spark, or Outlook are great email clients that Apple could learn from, If I wanted. While Apple thinks about it, the guys at Google have announced a new feature coming soon to iOS via Gmail: allowing you to send documents found in the iOS Files application.
Currently, Gmail allows us to add files that we have stored in Google Drive or images that we have in our reel when clicking on the clip icon in Gmail. With the next update, we will also be able to have access to the files that we have stored in iCloud, a very interesting function that many users will undoubtedly appreciate and that should be available in Mail.
The user interface is the same that we can find in the Files application and that is already available in other applications. By allowing access to the Files application to send any document to which we have access from that application, we will also be able to send by email the documents or files from external drives that we connect
This new feature was launched a few hours ago and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, as it is a feature that is activated through Google servers, not in the form of a software update as usual.
Microsoft Outlook already allowed us to access stored content in the Files application, so Gmail is not the first application to offer us this function, a function that will probably come from the hand of iOS 14, if Apple is interested in us continuing to use their mail manager.
