Google Drive is updated to facilitate the change from iOS to Android

A couple of years ago, Apple launched a new tool that allowed Android users to migrate all the content from their Android smartphone to an iPhone, except for DRM-protected content, such as songs, movies, books ... According to Apple this new The tool has allowed the Cupertino-based company to gain a large number of users from the rival platform. Currently Google has a worldwide market share of almost 90%, but even so, it seems that it does not want to lose users and has just updated the Google Drive application for iOS, adding a new option that allows transferring all the content of the iPhone to an Android device, except for DRM-protected content.

To access this function we must go to the Settings menu and click on Make backup. At that moment, all the data that we can transfer directly to our Android device will appear, among which are the contacts, the calendar events and the photos and videos that we have stored in it. In order to carry out this process, that it may take several hours, The application recommends that we leave the device charging while the application is running and that logically we do so when we are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Until the launch of this new feature, the only option to being able to perform the migration was through third-party applications, in a rather complicated process and that required having a computer at hand, to be able to move both the images and the videos to the new device, something that thanks to this new function is no longer necessary.

Users of the new Pixel and Pixel XL have a native application called Quick Switch Adapter, which allowed iPhone users to move all their information to the new Google terminal, but this application was only compatible with the new Pixels. If you plan to make the change, you have to disable iMessage, to prevent the SMS they send you from getting lost along the way, a problem that has been present at Apple for several years and has not yet been solved.
