Google Maps for iOS introduces a new night mode

google maps

Google Maps launches a new night vision for GPS navigation. In this way, Google maps are aimed at making it easier to use the application at night while driving, in the darkness of our vehicle, without the light from the mobile screen bothering us. This is one of the most missing features when navigating Google maps.

Why is this night mode more beneficial? With night mode, the screen will go dark and the application colors will change. In this way, if we are using the application as a GPS in the car while driving, our vision will not have to adapt to the change in light from looking at the road (dark) to looking at the mobile screen without night mode (maximum brightness), which is a real danger behind the wheel.

This new night mode does not appear as is in the configuration options of Google Maps, in fact it cannot be activated or deactivated as we wish in any menu of the application. The night mode of the application is also not activated depending on the clarity collected by the brightness sensor of the iPhone. Instead, Google Maps opts for a much more rudimentary system when activating this new night mode: it will be activated only if the application detects that, according to the time that the clock marks, it is night. That's right folks, the simple is sometimes the most functional. This means that if we do not have the time set correctly, the night mode of the Google Maps application would not work correctly.

Another feature that the new version of Google Maps for iOS brings is to add labels to specific places, so that later we can see those places on our map or in the search suggestions for places in the application.
