Google Maps will allow you to pay parking meters from the app itself

Google has announced a new functionality for its navigation application in which It will allow you to pay for parking in meter from the application itself without having to use the parking meter.

Thanks to an integration with providers that are already dedicated to it such as Passport and ParkMobile, Now you can pay for the parking meter without having to get out of the car, look for the tower all over the street and have to introduce cash (or card) after tediously entering the details of your car and the hours you want to be parked. The functionality is as simple as pressing the button «Pay parking meter» (We understand that its name will be something similar to this when the functionality is extended to other countries. Currently it is «Pay for Parking»), select the time you want to stay and pay. In the same way as other existing applications, You can also extend the time if necessary.

Also, the application is expanding its ability to pay transit fares (public transport rates such as taxis, buses, trains, etc.) with more than 80 companies throughout the world.

Thanks to this functionality, It will be possible to plan a trip, pay these rates and simply use the different transports without having to go to several different apps to request a taxi, train or bus. The app explains how to pay in advance and have the payment made before arriving at the station. When you enter your destination and there are transfers between means of transport, you will see in the application the option to pay from your mobile with the card associated with your Google account.

All this functionality is deployed from today for Android in more than 400 cities in the United States (including Boston, Cincinnati, Houston, Los Angeles, New York or Washington DC) awaiting release for iOS.

Without a doubt, Google Maps will make our lives easier with these new features And I would not rule out that your roadmap not only incorporates parking meters but that it can reach tolls on motorways, public parking spaces or even integrate the purchase of boat or plane tickets if you are looking for a destination that needs these means of transport. For now, to pay the parking meter more easily with Google Maps we will have to wait for it to be launched in the rest of the world and, if we live in the US, for it to be launched for iOS.
