Google Meet is the new alternative to Skype and Amazon Chime

Two weeks ago, online sales and cloud service giant Amazon launched a new service to compete with Microsoft's Skype calling service, called amazon-chime. But it seems that It's not the only competition Microsoft's veteran video calling service is encountering along the way., since the search giant (I am all giants) Google has just announced Google Meet a platform for making video calls directed, like Amazon Chime to the professional environment, where Google also has a very important presence. Google Meet is the new Google Hangouts aimed at businesses and is included in G Suite.

G Suite is a pack of applications that Google offers to companies, which used to be Hangouts for making calls and video calls, but which has now been replaced by Google Meet. Looks like the guys from Mountain View are hell-bent on ending Hangouts once and for all, use it only for private use or perhaps over time disappear so that Google Allo and Google Duo become the new messaging and video calling options between users. Time will tell.

The operation of Google Meet is different from what we can find with Hangouts, where we only have to click on the link to access a video call. With Google Meet that changes, since we are only going to have to enter a meeting code that will allow us to directly access the video call. These codes are a kind of password that are created specifically for each meeting. Google Meet will rely on Google Calendar to provide information about upcoming meetings and the people who will participate in them.

While Hangouts has a maximum limit of 1st participants, Google Meet expands that number to 30 simultaneously. At the moment it is only available through the web meet.google.com, but soon it will also be in the form of an application for iOS and Android. At the moment it is only compatible with Google Chrome, so you will not be able to access if you do not use the Google browser, in this way everything remains at home.
