Until recently, technology and environmental companies got on between bad and regular, but lately and above all as marketing strategies (why are we going to fool ourselves) the most renowned technology and electronic companies are proudly showing everyone their ecological initiatives of in such a way that they make it seem that their products improve the planet instead of destroying it, and since the Cupertino people do not like to lose, they are also number one in sustainability strategies.

Greenpeace today published a report entitled "Clean on Click: A Guide to Building a Green Internet" in which it shows Apple as the leader among technology companies when it comes to talking about renewable energy. The report notes that Apple has been the company that has done the most work in these sustainability activities, promoting new initiatives and improving previous ones to achieve one hundred percent renewable cloud services for another year.

Apple continues to lead the project to keep its service providers online through renewable energy, even as they expand, its renewable energy sources continue to provide enough of the services they must maintain. The three large databases announced last year will be built and maintained almost entirely on renewable energy, in addition to achieving a positive impact by pushing its main suppliers to maintain progress and commitment to renewable energy.

Apple flaunted its environmental progress on Earth Day as we well learned, announcing a collaboration with the United States Conservation Fund to protect 36.000 hectares of forest by promoting the use of sustainable packaging products. Also this week Apple announced new sustainability projects in China (which will be the area most affected environmentally speaking) through an association similar to the World Fund for Nature and Protection of Forests, promoting the use of solar energy in China for the manufacture of its products.

According to Greenpeace, Apple produces more energy than it consumes through renewable means, however it ranks Yahoo, Facebook and Google after Apple with 73%, 49% and 46% respectively. The position of Amazon that only generates 23% of what it consumes is surprising and urges Amazon to give its position a boost.
