How the new iOS 15 Search works

The arrival of iOS 15 will bring major changes to Apple's newly launched Search network, with which it will be easier to find your lost or stolen devices. We explain all the news.

Apple launched a few weeks ago the new Search network, adding the possibility of finding all our devices, including our AirPods, thanks to the participation of all the iPhone, iPad and Mac from around the world that create a network to which any accessory can be connected Apple that is lost, to locate on the map and help its owner to recover it. The launch of the AirTag also allows to locate objects that have nothing to do with Apple, to which we can add these new locator labels, or even other brands such as Chipolo One Spot. With all this, Apple's Search network becomes the largest “solidarity” search network available today, in which all users help to locate objects one another.

With iOS 15, new advanced functions are added, some of which have been requested by users for a long time. As of the arrival of this update, after the summer, turning off the iPhone won't prevent you from being able to locate it on the map, even if it runs out of battery. With iOS 15 the iPhone will always be discoverable, even off, without battery or without coverage. It will use the minimum energy available to make AirTag and connect to any other available device that will locate it on the map alerting its owner in case of being found.

We may also receive notifications when we move away from devices on our Search network. If you leave your keys, or a backpack that can be traced with an AirTag, or you forget your iPad at work, you will receive a notification as soon as you leave it. It is always better to be safe than sorry, so we can avoid losing our objects since before we leave the place where they are we will be warned that we are leaving them behind. You can set up safe locations, like your home, where you won't receive notifications if you leave them. New functions of a new network Search that will give a lot to talk about.
