It has happened to most of us when jailbreak in iOS 5.0.1, either in iPhone 4 (3GS, etc.) or in iPhone 4S, that some icons are left blank, in my case it is Cydia's; other white diagnostic icons also appear.
Most are solved by respringing, but sometimes not even like this. If you want to solve this you have a much easier option: download for free iWipeCache from Cydia and run it.
iWipe Cache is designed to clear the cache when installing themes with Winterboard, so it works perfectly for what we need, regardless of whether you have Winterboard installed or not.
(iWipe Cache: Not to be confused with iWipe in Cydia which is paid)
Why install anything without doing a respring is solved ...

It is usually solved by downloading anything from cydia, it was solved by downloading SBsettings.

Take them off and put them back in iTunes, the same thing happened to you and I was solved like this

It does not solve the problem, when you install something the icons keep coming out, what it does is a respring but when you reinstall something the icons keep coming out.

A permanent solution, or at least in my case, is to unhide the SBSettings icon. Everything happened to me after I hid the icon, now I no longer hide any, neither the Activator, SBSttings nor any and the problem has disappeared.
