How to uninstall iOS 9

downgrade-ios9-ios84

This is a question that you ask us many times, but in reality the question is not the correct one. An operating system is not uninstalled; one operating system is changed for another either by updating or downgrading to a previous version. If you have installed one of the iOS 9 betas (third for developers or first public) and it does not work as well as you expected, you can download to iOS 8.4 which is the version that is still being signed. For this you have to follow the steps that I indicate below.

  1. We turn off the iPhone / iPod or iPad.
  2. We connect the Lightning cable (the 30-pin if it is an iPhone 4S or earlier and iPad 2) to the computer.
  3. We press and hold the start button of our device.
  4. Now we connect the cable to the iPhone / iPod or iPad and we wait for the Connect to iTunes screen (recovery mode) to appear.
  5. In iTunes a window will appear in which it will inform us that the device has a problem and needs to be restored. We played on Restore.
  6. In the next window, we click on Restore and Update.
  7. In the next window we tap on Next.
  8. Now we touch on I agree and we wait for the process to finish.

You most likely have an iOS 8.4 backup saved. If it is a copy that you are interested in recovering, when you connect the newly restored iPhone / iPod or iPad to iTunes for the first time, the latest copy of iOS 8.4 will appear. You just have to select the desired copy and accept. Your device will return to the same point where you had it before installing iOS 9 beta.

If there is the rare possibility that the firmware cannot be downloaded from Apple's servers, You can also restore by downloading the .ipsw from getios.com and, in step 5, click on Restore with the Shift key (on Windows) or Alt (on Mac) to select the downloaded firmware. The rest of the process would be exactly the same.

It is easier to press shift + search for update, we choose the firmware, ironically it is updated to 8.4 and we do not lose our backup since we cannot put one from 9 to 8.4 and we avoid the whole synchronization process.

Nothing about that. Ironically I have followed your method and I had to go back to ios9 because it would not let me stay in iOS 8.4 keeping everything as it was. Do not do it unless you want to waste an entire afternoon restoring.

I installed the public beta of ios 9 just to see how green or mature the next operating system of our iPhones was but my surprise has been capitalized to see how stable this beta is…. I liked it so much that I left it installed because for me it is fully functional.
The only downside I see is a bug in the transition to open the apps and it is not always.
On the other hand I want to comment that I read that the battery flew with this beta and I (with my personal experience) deny it. It lasts much longer than before. I've been using the phone since 9 in the morning and right now (20:52 pm) the battery has 73% left. My use is quite intense but I only dedicate it to using WhatsApp and social networks.
I hope my message is useful for something.
    Greetings iphoneros.

I have iOS 9 and I want to go back to 8.4 but my last backup is in ios9… Does it really work to modify the info.plist? On alternate sites they say yes and others no ... What do you think?

    1.    Paul Aparicio said

Hi Ignacio. Honestly, I have not tried it, that goes ahead. Anyway, think that, at most, you will only waste your time. Let me explain: if you change it and it gives you a problem, you can always restore again.

      A greeting.

You mean restore and reinstall the ios9? Pablo. Or as?

        1.    Paul Aparicio said

Hello again. I mean, you can edit the file you mention and try to get the copy back. In the worst case, which would be that it did not work for you, you can restore and you would only have wasted your time. What I would do is edit the file and try. If all goes well, I already have it. If I detect a serious problem, then I reset from 0.

Hi there! Well what do you think? I already did it and it didn't work… So there is no return… I will have to stay in ios9 public beta… Although now it is working better… I feel more stable on iOS 9 than the first time

Eye! with the update of the iPhone to ios 9 if you have iTunes version 11.4 on your computer and you cannot install later versions. This version of iTunes will install ios 9 on your iPhone without any problems, but WITHOUT NOTICE that, once installed, you will no longer be able to connect to iTunes again because it requires a more current version.
It has happened to me with my iPhone 4s and I do not know how I will be able to return to ios 8. I have tried the steps indicated but it is useless because my iPhone can no longer connect with my version of iTunes. :or(

    Hello
I did an update by OTA and I was able to use my IOS for a day and a half. After that it has fried and I can't do anything recommended because I can only turn it on and off the screen because I can't give it a "RESTART" either. And at the moment I have not found any solution.
