IPhone SE sales slap those who called it a failure

The iPhone 7 was a phone that was not going to succeed, everyone was very clear about it ... well, not all of them, there are many opinion articles in which I was kind enough to point out that the iPhone SE had many ingredients that in combination could make it succeed, and it seems that this has been the case. Apparently no one would want a four-inch phone in the middle of 2016, the design was a hecatomb, to repeat that of a 2012 model, and the hardware, was nothing of everyone. However, today we are again receiving figures for sales of devices around the world, or at least much of it, and we realize that the iPhone SE has ended up rejuvenating iPhone sales considerably.

Indeed, according to the data obtained by Kantar during the month of June, iPhone sales grew in much of the world, but we are faced with two curious data that we cannot ignore. In the United States, the second best-selling device is the Samsung Galaxy S7 and its variants, so far so good. The catacrack comes when the third best-selling device in the United States of America is a four-inch device, nothing more and nothing less than an iPhone SE, with a total of 5,1% of sales.

But we are not going to be superficial and take the Yankee country as the only reference. We traveled to Europe, more specifically to UK, where the iPhone SE has literally been the best-selling device, at 9,2 percent of total sales, surpassing its older brother and flagship, the iPhone 6s.

Who do we blame? The four-inch panel, a recycled design from 2012, the hardware literally copied from that of the iPhone 6s presented exactly six months earlier, the color pink ... what is evident is the fact that there was a demand for "small but thug" devices that no company was willing to fill, and once again, Apple has opened the door to a market that others wanted to put through its hoop. Yes, gentlemen, the four inches are back to stay.

Why did the four inches of other brands not triumph?

The reasons are obvious, manufacturers that use Android as an operating system became engrossed in the belief that bigger meant more hardware, so they limited themselves to releasing little siblings of high-end devices, with poor hardware and a literally shrunken design. It happened with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and its Mini version, obviously inferior to the high-end of it, and not because of details, but because of gross effectiveness. The competition in this case was the Xperia Mini range, however, we found ourselves with the same, devices that, because they were smaller, were resigned to having inferior hardware, as if the size of the screen meant the right that a user has. or not to enjoy greater processing and execution power.

I reiterate the justifications that we made for the iPhone SE at the time. There are still many people who do not require a mobile phone to enjoy multimedia contentSome people just want a reliable phone to get them out of their day-to-day work, with the comfort and portability that four inches provide. That huge number of users had no alternatives on the market, and they saw the sky open with the arrival of the iPhone SE. It promised to be able to run all your daily productivity applications, take good photos and perform up to the best on the market, in a restrained size.

Apple wanted to go further, its second most powerful mobile device on the market was literally the cheapest in history, and this also led many people to try the iOS experience for the first time, the iPhone SE is not expensive, nor cheap. What is evident is that the iPhone SE had a market.
