IKEA to launch HomeKit-compatible plug at knock-down price

IKEA shook hands with Apple and HomeKit It's been a long time since the Tradfri product range (don't waste time trying to put your Swedish skills to the test) has already been made up of light bulbs and pushbuttons everywhere, a collaboration that is benefiting both equally, without a doubt.

Now IKEA's Tradfri with HomeKit range is growing by offering a smart plug at a knockdown price. Smart plugs compatible with HomeKit are not exactly cheap, at least the alternatives that are now on the market, something that will change in the near future.

A Swedish news website called technology week has been the one who has launched the hare about this new product of the most popular furniture firm:

The plug will be included in the range of smart products called TRADFRI and will cost 10 dollars (€ also presumably). If you want an On / Off button in the same the price would be 15 dollars. The button is a magnetic system that you can place in any metallic place and will have a maximum action range of approximately ten meters.

The button system to which the news refers is exactly the same as the one found for example in the intelligent lighting of IKEA, which includes magnetized keypads.

We find that this product is interestingly cheaper than that offered by rival brands such as Elgato or Koogeek itself, who "force" us to spend around thirty euros if we want to have a good HomeKit-compatible plug. Something tells me that these IKEA sockets with HomeKit are going to sell quite well, mainly because it is an easy and very comfortable way to program some elements such as heaters or the electric heater. Yor I will not deny it, in my house there will be a couple of these.
