This image would confirm the pressure-sensitive Touch ID of the iPhone 7

iPhone 7 home button

OnLeaks already said it: «the new Touch ID it is real". Continuing with the dripping of leaks on the iPhone 7, Techtastic.nl, a Dutch medium that is leaking many components of the next Apple terminals, has published An image of the front panel of the iPhone 7 that has something interesting: the hole of the home button, which is seen from the inside, is covered, which would confirm that it will not be mechanical, but tactile.

Rumors have been circulating for a long time that Apple will take the first step to eliminate the home button including a Touch ID tactile, and not mechanical as usual. That is, the home button of the iPhone 7 will not sink, but will detect different pressures and deliver a physical response like the 3D Touch, although rumors say that it will remind more of the Force Touch trackpad of the latest MacBook. These rumors have also been decided to give the new button a name: 3D Touch ID.

Is it confirmed that the Touch ID will be touch?

As you can see, the image above shows a front panel with the area where the start button -up- would be covered. We might think that it is normal, that the previous models also had the home button mounted, so I have looked for an image of the front panel of the iPhone 6s in the same state to be sure.

Front panel mounted iPhone 6s

As you can see in the previous image, the almost complete front panel of the iPhone 6s does have the hole completely uncovered, so, if the GeekBar image is real, we would be before the confirmation that the start button of the iPhone 7 will be pressure sensitive and the first step is being taken for an expected elimination that would reduce or eliminate the upper and lower margins of the iPhone.

As always, we must remain skeptical until the day they introduce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but if I had to bet all my money, I would bet that Touch ID will become a "3D Touch ID" from September this year.

Pedro, the first image corresponds to the leak of the next iPhone (which by the way is upside down, the top part is the bottom one, you can see the speaker, you may have taken the photo with the phone backwards to that which made it to hidden)
The two photos below correspond to the iPhone 6s from last year, that's why one has the hole and the leak now does not.

ummm Pablo I did not play it but there you, it may be false, it may be a part in the middle of the process, it may be you who know xD hopefully you are right.

Hello, siluX. That's more of a decorative phrase than anything else 😉 I don't like betting very much, if I lose I buy a flamethrower and pay with it xD

      All the best

Look at the sign that I have made in yellow, the hole in the home button is clearly visible, the only thing that almost the entire hole is covered by the black band

Hello Pedro. That is the top. The start button would be below. In fact, the glass had a hole like the one in the other image, but in it they have mounted what looks like a touch surface that will not sink.

      A greeting.

Pablo, the photo is reversed, as siluX says, at the bottom is clearly the earphone and the sensors and the front camera, the top is the home button area, and the rounded hole of the home button is clearly visible but it is largely covered by the black band that you see ... have you seen the image that I have attached? is that it looks shamelessly

Hello Pedro. Yes I had seen it, but I had not noticed. The truth, as they always appear in that position and the 6s has the cables on top, I thought that was the top part.

As you say, the hole is also covered, so it cannot sink.

      A greeting.

Edit: I have added some words to the post 😉

Hello Pablo, I see that you still cannot see the hole… you can see a rounded hole covered in large part by the black band, but what little you can see is clearly seen through it, which is the same as the photos of the iPhone 6s but the 6s are without the black band. My bet is that it will continue to be a physical button as up to now and not a tactile one ... But time will tell who is right 😉

Hello Pedro. I do see it, but it's covered up. I have added the other image from the Dutch website, which I thought was unimportant. It does have it because you can see that that black band is not part of the touch panel (in orange). That black band that covers the hole of the home button is on the glass and there is nothing that covers the hole in the panel of the iPhone 6s.

      A greeting.

If you notice, in the 6s, the black band (black flex) goes on top. They have been able to readjust the design and move it around.

    1.    siluX said

I don't know what to think anymore .. because it doesn't seem to be a flex, what you indicate in yellow seems to be part of something circular so it makes sense that it is the home button but… why is it gray? it may be a touch-sensitive foundation.

The black that covers everything, could it be the vibration motors that have moved it? mmm ..

  8.   pedro said

It is not that it is gray, it is the color of the background, being a hole you can see through it, and that color is from the table or whatever you see in the background

    1.    siluX said

Right, it could be that and what a view you have! But explain to me now the cuts that that black has around what the xD button would be, it is all confusing, we will see in a month how it will be 🙂

  9.   Pedro said

We'll see if ... The cuts you say, if I think that's what you mean, it's because of the optical effect of the photo ...

In my opinion, as the owner of a repair shop and iPhone LCD recycling business (rydisplays.com), I can tell you that the LCD (photo showing 4 pieces) definitely indicates the absence of the flexor that communicates the physical button ( home) with the iPhone logic board. As well posted by Pablo, in the photo of the current iPhone 6s you can see that this small flexor is at the bottom of the screen (just a few millimeters from the hole where the home button goes. Acting as the one in charge of ordering the logic card when the button is pressed or, the id touch is touched My perceptions The photographs are confusing, because although the first (4 lcds) suggests a radical change in the operation of the home button, the second incites confusion. On the other hand, there is the possibility that in the second photo they have not yet had the glass of the new iPhone, and that is why they cover the hole with the lcd and touch flexors. It is very hasty to bet, and with those images I am 50% and 50% on the question of a probable "force id touch" touch button.
