Interest in the iMessage App Store begins to decline

Apple stores data from your iMessage contacts

The renewed iMessage application was one of the keys during the presentation of iOS 10 in June of last year. Everything is instant messaging now, and Apple doesn't want to be left behind in a market where you still have a lot to say in countries like the United States, where the use of this platform is much broader than in other territories (see Spain). That is why the changes introduced in iMessage sought to give a new life to the iPhone Messages application.

During the first months, the reception was spectacular from the developers, with new applications adding functionalities compatible with the App Store or being launched exclusively for iMessage. Thus, during the first month the growth experienced was 116%, probably exceeding the expectations that many had about this platform. Unfortunately, interest has been declining to such an extent that, in the last month, growth has dropped to a meager 9%. Analysts point to several factors as possible for this decline, among which are that the initial excitement factor before the launch of a new service has already faded and that the iMessage App Store interface not too clear and precise to find new applications of our interest. This, added to the fact that it is not one of the main messaging platforms worldwide, may have been decisive factors in maintaining interest during these first six months of the service's life.

Apple, however, continues to bet on it and we may see new movements in this regard at the developer conference that will take place next June. At the moment, last week he launched a new ad on his YouTube channel promoting one of the main attractions added to iMessage such as 'stickers'.
