Yesterday was a relatively important day for iOS. A new version that changed the first issue was not released, but the first beta of what will be a mid or spring update of Apple's mobile operating system was released. Like iOS 9.3 with Night Shift (among others) and iOS 8.4 with a new Music app, iOS 10.3 will come with some interesting news, among which I would highlight the APFS file system or the function Find my AirPods.
But not only what you see is what you get. Every time a new iOS beta is released, developers browse their code to find possible hidden features, something Steven Troughton-Smith did this time to discover that the iOS 10.3 code includes a floating keyboard for one-handed typing on the iPad, something that at least in the first beta is disabled by default in a way similar to the dark mode that another developer discovered months ago.

According to Troughton-Smith, the function will be available for apple tablets 9.7 inches or less, which would leave out the 12.9-inch iPad. A rumor assures that Tim Cook and company will present an iPad of 10.x inches and that it does not appear in the code is something normal not to give clues. With this explained and if I have to be honest, I am surprised that initially the keyboard is not available for the larger iPad. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to use this keyboard with the Apple Pencil?
The famous developer explains that the floating keyboard he has discovered works in much the same way as picture-in-picture does with videos: the keyboard window can be moved to the position we want, but with the difference that its size will be fixed and will match the size of the iPhone keyboard.
At this time we cannot know if this floating keyboard will arrive when iOS 10.3 is officially released, but It could be one of the novelties that they present to us together with the new iPad in spring.
