iOS 10 already reaches three out of four users

Apple has always been proud of many things, but since the arrival of the iPhone, and later the iPad, there is one aspect in particular that its biggest rival, Android, has never been able to fight: the high degree of adoption of the most recent versions. updated by users. Android is a fragmented system, very fragmented, the opposite of iOS, an operating system whose previous versions are practically only kept on those devices that are no longer upgradeable.

In addition, adoption of the latest version of iOS always occurs at high speed; higher or lower depending on the circumstances but, in any case, tremendously higher than the adoption rate that is observed year after year in Android. And for proof, we have the latest official data supplied by Apple that reveals that three out of four users already have iOS 10 on their devices.

The adoption of iOS 10 already reaches 76% of devices, just four months after its official launch

Apple has updated the usage statistics for iOS 10, the latest mobile operating system designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and the results are surprising? Well not really, because we are already used to a high degree of adoption.

The Cupertino company tracks which version is used by the iOS devices with which users visit the App Store and based on this, it is able to determine the degree of adoption of the latest version of iOS released, as well as what percentage of users are still using it. previous versions.

Data taken as of January 4, 2017 based on visits received to the App Store

According to the latest statistical results that Apple has published, just over three out of four devices are already running iOS 10. Specifically, 76% of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that have visited the App Store have done so since iOS 10, while 18% have done so from a version of iOS 9. and only 6% use an earlier version. These figures contrast strongly with the adoption levels of Android whose latest version, Android 7 Nougat, launched shortly after iOS 10, does not reach even 1% of Android users.

Figures released by the Cupertino company reveal a growth of more than thirteen percentage points since the data was last updated at the end of November. Previously, Apple stated that iOS 10 had the highest adoption rate of any version in iOS history. In fact, this 76% adoption rate in less than four months is truly impressive and beats the record set by iOS 9.

After a series of beta versions in force since the beginning of the summer, iOS 10 was officially launched on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, including a large number of new features and functions, such as a completely renewed Messages app, the redesign of the Maps applications and Music, the new Home app for smart home control and much more.

The analysis firm Fiksu states that iOS 10 is already installed on 83% of active devices, 114 days after launch. However, it is common for other companies dedicated to mobile web browsing analysis to report somewhat higher figures than the analysis. from Apple's own App Store, which tends to be more conservative.

Apple's graph shows that iOS 9 is still used by 18% of the iOS user base, while the remaining 6% still use iOS 8 or earlier. As I pointed out at the beginning, most of these cases, especially as for older iOS versions, it is due to old devices that can no longer be updated to new versions.

Apple only offers data for the major versions (iOS 10, iOS 9, iOS 8) without breaking down the percentage of use in intermediate minor versions.

The latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is iOS 10.2; iOS 10.2.1 is currently in beta and Apple is rumored to start rolling out iOS 10.3 with test ends as soon as next week.

I am one of the people who has not updated to iOS 10 for a simple reason: because of the disappearance of the 'Swipe to unlock'. I am one of those people who has a hard time pressing the button and with iOS 10 they have focused a lot on that, or you unlock the device with your fingerprint or with your fingerprint, either by pressing the Home button or the Unlock button.
I am very clear that until they put this section of 'Slide to unlock' again I will not update my terminal, unless some applications start to stop working and I have no choice but to update.

I have the 7 and I really miss the "Swipe to unlock" is something that has always been there. It was something automatic and I didn't realize it until the day that I didn't have it anymore. I really don't understand why they gave it ...
Something that works so well, why touch it? It was one of the main features of the iPhone.
With this new version, sometimes it turns out that when I use the fingerprint to unlock it, it does not take me to the home screen, it remains there ... without doing anything but, at the top it says "unlocked", however with the fingerprint it is not enough, you have to do , in addition, a pulse. Too much lap and that hinders the experience, honestly. I hope they bring it back ...

I bet all! Why most people were forced to update by the annoying "An update available" message that even though you ignore it is so hateful, or because it damaged something in the system by the Jailbreak

If Apple did not force to update, surely those numbers would be very low

Well, I am super happy with ios 9.3.3 with jail with my iphone 6s plus 64gb with tsmc chip, I don't upload to ios 10 or drunk. and to the iphone 7 that they give, I stand. I don't need more iPhones every year or so much bullshit now. since I have not taken from my mobile or 20% of what it can offer me.
