As we have already said on several occasions, we are less than two months away from WWDC 2016, the developer conference where Apple's new operating systems will be presented. Most likely, both the Apple TV and Apple Watch operating systems will only see their number increase and we will see tvOS 10.0 and watchOS 3.0 respectively, but there are slight doubts about what the new versions of iOS and OS X will be called, although they are expected to be called iOS 10 and macOS-something.
The Apple world moves seasonally. The concepts of iOS are appearing more frequently on these dates and today we bring you a iOS 10 concept very interesting, from my point of view much more than the one we presented last week. This concept has been published by MacStories, but it is the brainchild of Federico Viticci and Sam Beckett. You have a video below.
IOS 10 concept with tons of worthwhile features
As in other concepts, Viticci and Beckett have imagined a Control Center in which we can move its buttons. And not only that: they have also thought of something that many of us would like to see: 3D Touch in the CC. I think that entering its second year, Apple would have to take the 3D Touch even further to encourage developers to use it more in their applications. In addition, this CC would also allow us to add shortcuts to third-party applications, where I think it would also put Tweetbot.
On the other hand, the couple of designers have also thought of a dark mode, something that can already be achieved through Cydia, I think I remember that with a tweak called Eclipse. Admittedly, dark mode looks especially good on the Space Gray iPhone, right?
Then they also show us what the Messages application could be like, something that I personally don't use a lot because I don't have many contacts that use iOS nor do I have a bonus to send free SMS. The first thing they show us in their concept of Messages is something that we already have available in Telegram, for example: links and other types of content have a preview showing more information than the default app. They have also imagined a faster way to add Emoji, something that, curiously, is also present in Telegram, but in the web version. It seems very interesting to me, since today we have to use the same globe that we use to change languages. In my case, I use the keyboard in Spanish and English, sometimes I touch the ball of the world and it seems that it has done nothing. Actually it has changed languages, but what I wanted was to access the Emoji.
What seems more interesting, Viticci and Beckett have included in their concept a Finder kind, something that jailbreak users will know about iFile. At the moment we have something similar, but we can only use it for iCloud or download a third-party application. The video, just over 2m long, is full of other interesting details such as:
- The possibility of dragging text or images from one window to another when we are in split screen.
- When we are in split screen and we receive a notification, we can drag it from the bar to a new window.
- El Slide Over when the screen is at 50% it is much better and more productive.
- Siri also improves, among other things allowing you to enter text instead of voice. This is something that Microsoft's Cortana already allows and that I sometimes do by saying something that I cannot understand and manually editing what has been misunderstood. In addition, we could also send a WhatsApp from Siri, when currently the most it does in this sense is to read the notifications (along with all the others, which may have material).
Apple should take note of some concepts as it already does with the Cydia tweaks. What do you think of this concept of iOS 10?
I hope we see some of this in ios10, especially the dark mode that would serve much more than the night mode that the truth does not add anything by changing the color temperature at night. The light from the screen also bothers those who sleep next to it.
