When four and a half months have passed since the release of the final version of iOS 12, the guys from Cupertino have released official figures about the adoption of this twelfth version of iOS on the developer portal. According to the Cupertino-based company, 83% of the devices launched in the last 4 years are managed by iOS 12.
Since Apple will release iOS 12, has started showing adoption data in two ways. On the one hand we find the adoption rate of the devices that the company has launched in the last 4 years, and on the other hand we find the number of devices that today are managed by iOS 12, a figure that rises to 80%, according to the latest official figures.
While 83% of the devices that have been launched in the last 4 years are managed by iOS 12, only 80% of all active devices are managed by the same version of iOS. Of these devices, 12% are still managed by iOS 11 (one of the worst versions of iOS) while the remaining 8% are managed by versions prior to iOS 11.
Since January, Apple has released iOS 12.1.3 and iOS 12.1.4, in addition to the iOS 12.2., IOS 12.1.3, and iOS 12.1.4 betas for fix some bugs such as group calls through FaceTime. The next iOS update, number 12.2, version that is currently in beta, will offer us compatibility with televisions compatible with AirPlay 2, new animojis and will add Canada among the countries that will be able to enjoy Apple's News news service.
The adoption of iOS 12 is being faster than iOS 11. In April 2018, iOS 12 was still on 76% of supported devices, probably due to the large number of problems and bugs it included, which forced Apple to focus on improving performance in the next version, something that has achieved in a more than effective way.
