iOS 14.5 aims to be the jewel in the crown of the major updates to iOS 14. A few days ago, new betas were released for developers. However, since the first beta of this version we have seen great news such as the possibility of unlocking the iPhone with the Apple Watch, new voices for Siri, new tools in Apple Music and new emoji, among other great news. This new beta 6 hints a battery status recalibration system. It will only be available for the 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max for a reason that we do not know today.
A battery health recalibration coming spring with iOS 14.5
The novelty falls, as we have said, only in the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Apple is likely to treat this feature as a pilot so that it can be expanded to other devices. We will finally see how it behaves with the rest of the models, including the iPad. The feature arrives with the sixth beta of iOS 14.5 released a few days ago. It's about a battery status calibration system, with the aim of updating the health status and its peak performance.
iOS 14.5, which will be released later this spring, includes an update in which the battery health reporting system will recalibrate the maximum battery capacity and maximum performance capacity on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max to address inaccurate estimates of battery health reports for some users.
This recalibration system is aimed at those users who they see unexpected behavior from their iPhone battery and does not match the reality with the data in the battery health report in the iOS Settings. Apple has remarked, on its support website, that in any case the information offered by this system it does not reflect a problem with the actual battery condition.
In fact, the recalibration lasts a few weeks and, at the end, depending on the results obtained, we will be recommended to go to a supplier authorized by Apple to assess the battery in person. Also, the recalibration may fail and have to be done again. According to Apple, will last a few weeks and throughout them we will not see any update in the health data, but they will be modified after the study.
