iOS 8.1 will allow us to choose between 2G, 3G or LTE

IOS 8.1 connectivity

In addition to the new features of iOS 8.1 that we have already told you about, a user has discovered a new menu in the system that will allow us to select the type of data connectivity that we want to use, being able to choose between 2G, 3G or LTE.

Currently, to access that option we have to enter the Settings> Mobile data menu and once there, the only thing we can do is activate or deactivate the LTE connectivity. In case of deactivation, the device will try to search for 3G coverage automatically but if what we want is save battery, the ideal could be to switch to 2G, something that can be done in iOS 8.1.

Again, this is a time-consuming option that they seem to have finally implemented. This type of thing should not call our attention in the middle of 2014 but after seeing the "open" path that iOS 8 is taking, this is just another sign of the new path that Apple has taken.

For my part, I am satisfied with all these options, as long as it does not harm the natural essence of iOS. I already know that this particular option that I am talking about is not going to reduce the performance of our devices, rather the opposite by being able to optimize battery consumption manually. Nevertheless, I already made it clear that the arrival of new third-party keyboards makes some iPhone models suffer slightly, the result of poor optimization and integration between the system itself and the installed plug-in.

In any case, iOS 8.1 seems to be a highly desired update, both for its novelties and for the possible launch of Apple Pay service.

At last! It was the functionality that I most demanded. I'm sorry the day that LTE started working. As long as you are in an area where neither the 4G nor the 3G are thin or saturated, you have screwed up, and that happens to me constantly.
I've had enough of looking for jailbroken solutions, but I couldn't find any. Waiting I stay at iOS 8.1. Or I even hope that some tweak developer extracts this menu and implants it in previous jailbroken iOS versions.

If you want I will tell you how you can do it in ios 7 with jail, it is only to delete a file and that option already appears, but you cannot use 4g, only 3g

Well, I am very afraid that this option will depend on the operator, because I am currently with that Beta of iOS 8.1 and my menu is exactly the same as always, with the only option to activate or deactivate 4G.

It may be, the same thing happened with the tethering that was subject to the conditions of the operator ... well, let's hope that it is finally available because if I'm not mistaken, all the teams have it on Android, right?

I speak from the unknown, I know that they have the option but I do not know if it is also subject to the operator or not.

      Regards!

Luis Padilla .. You said it! "Beta" not final version. I hope so .. Because we are going to notice an amazing battery increase, so if I hope they adapt the 8.1 well to the 6 plus that in my opinion it is not as fine as I expected and has errors.

One of lime and another of sand from what I see ...
Possibly an operator adjustment, you're right Luis. But it is also sure that the iOS version on which that setting is put must support it, and surely that 8.1 is the one that does it.
So, it gives me that for some we will only have a tweak developer, migrate a solution to unsupported iOS versions, and tell how these operator settings are configured.
Something like when LTE was implemented in Movistar Spain, we were on iOS 6.x, and Movistar in that version did not give 4G, and you had to go up to 7.x to be able to enjoy it natively. But a method came out to be able to have 4G in iOS 6.x, with jailbreak, obviously.

I have jailbreak in ios 7.1.2 and I am very satisfied, I am a fan of Apple and its products, but I think that ios 8 has not convinced me much, I sacrificed it on the iPad Air and it disappointed me, I do not know if it is because in the iPad does not come as many things as iphones ... but I will continue with the jailbreak;)

    S. They see the picture well. There is not for mobile data options. It is to select which type of network the voice calls go through. So do not rejoice. In addition to insurance that menu only appears in the operators that have VoLTE

According to you, what happens here sometimes they post without confirming or seeing well what they publish.
