The iPadOS evolution could let us see an Xcode for iPad very soon

The evolution of the iPad and its iPadOS system is encouraging for many users. Apple began by launching iPadOS to later launch the new products among which were the iPad Pro. However, the jewel in the crown is the magic keyboard, the keyboard that sticks to Apple tablets. These improvements make the iPad begins to look for a niche in the professional field. Perhaps the next step is to be able to see sophisticated applications such as Xcode, the tool to create apps for Apple devices. In this concept we see how this program ported to iPadOS would look like.

Xcode for iPad could make more sense than we imagine

Xcode is Apple's program for creating applications for its entire range of operating systems: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. In addition, it has a peculiarity: it is only available for Mac computers. This is where we find the first obstacle for developers: to design apps with Xcode it is necessary to have a computer whose basic prices are high.

The designer Parker Ortolani has developed a concept of adapting Xcode for iPadOS. In it we can see how the tool would maintain its basic structure of the program available for Mac but adapting its usability. In this way, we would have bigger buttons, more divided menus maintaining the same structure: in the center of the screen the code and in the left part, in a sidebar, all the files of our project.

Another advantage that we could have using Xcode for iPadOS is the possibility to view the results of the apps directly, without the need to invoke an emulator. As soon as the application is assembled, it could be run from the environment itself, an advantage over developing with Xcode for Mac.

Finally, the high price of Macs means that many developers cannot access Xcode. However, if Apple decided to port its tool to its tablets, it would advance in two aspects. First of all, they could increase their purchases of their Magic Keyboard as it would be the perfect complement. And in second place, a developer could start creating apps for the iOS, macOS or watchOS environment for less than a thousand euros.
