iPhone 12, HomePod Mini and the return of the MagSafe, everything we know about the event on Tuesday the 13th

On Tuesday the 13th at 19:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time) Apple will present the new iPhone among other new products. Here we summarize everything we know and we can wait for that day.

The star: the new iPhone 12

The star of the event next Tuesday will undoubtedly be the iPhone 12, or rather, the entire new range of iPhone that Apple is going to present to us. The iPhone 12, the most basic model that Apple will introduce Tuesday, will be available in two sizes. The smallest and cheapest will have a 5.4-inch screen and will be called the iPhone mini, with an entry price of $ 649/699 depending on who we listen to in the rumors. It will be available in the colors black, white, red, blue and green, with capacities ranging from 64GB to 256GB, with an intermediate option of 128GB. There will be another 12-inch iPhone 6.1 starting at $ 799, with the same colors and capabilities as its little brother. Neither of these two models will include the charger or headphones in the box.

In addition we will also have the iPhone 12 Pro, with a 6.1-inch model that will start at $ 999 and a 6.7-inch model with a price of $ 1099. The colors in which we can purchase these terminals will be gold, silver, graphite and blue, with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities. The cameras of these terminals will improve compared to the current generation, with a triple camera (wide angle, ultra wide angle and telephoto) to which we will have to add the LiDAR sensor and a 4x zoom for the small model and 5x for the larger one.

In addition to hardware enhancements to the camera, there will also be software enhancements, such as Smart HDR, Depp Fusion, and Night Mode. The fundamental difference between the Pro models will be the size of the sensor, with 47% more size for the sensor of the iPhone 12 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 12 Pro.

There will also be other enhancements for all iPhone 12 models:

  • Video recording in Dolby Vision
  • Super Retina XDR display
  • Stronger front glass with «Ceramic Shield» technology
  • Intelligent 5G mode that will make it used only when necessary, achieving significant battery savings

As for the release dates there will be differences in each model:

  • iPhone 12 mini: pre-order on November 6, launch on November 13
  • iPhone 12 and 12 Pro: Pre-order on October 16, launch on October 23
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max: Pre-order on November 13, launch on November 20

The MagSafe returns

The MagSafe connector has been the great disadvantage of the use of USB-C in MacBooks. This magnetic connector that on more than one occasion has saved the lives of our laptops was a characteristic element of Mac for years, and it seems that will return in the event of the 13th, although in a different way to how we knew it: as wireless chargers.

Magnets

Apple is planning to launch two wireless chargers for the iPhone: MagSafe charger and MagSafe Duo, which can recharge one or two devices respectively. They will be accompanied by the MagSafe cases, with a system of magnets that will make the iPhone fit perfectly in the new Apple chargers. In the case of the new iPhone 12, that cover will not be necessary because they will already incorporate that system of magnets.

Finally a HomePod Mini at $ 99

Apple will finally launch the HomePod Mini, a speaker smaller than the HomePod and will also have a much more affordable price: $ 99. It will have a size of 3.3 inches (about 8.5 centimeters) and will have inside the S5 processor, the same one that incorporates the Apple Watch SE and Series 5. This speaker will be presented at Tuesday's event, but will not be available until the month November, with the reservation on the 6th and the launch on the 16th.

Neither AirPods Studio nor AirTags

Two of the longest-talking products will not appear at Tuesday's event. Apple's on-ear headphones, AirPods Studio, would have already begun their mass production, but Apple would leave its presentation for a new event, expected in November. There will be two models, one cheaper and "sporty" that will cost about $ 350 and another more exclusive model, made of metal and leather, priced at $ 599.

Apple's locator tags will not appear this day 13, and we will have to wait until later to see them and be able to acquire them, something that will happen predictably already started the year 2021.
