What happens to the battery in the iPhone 6s?

We continue to be involved in controversy over the issue of batteries. As you well know, many devices corresponding to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s are suffering from quite serious battery problems. Many of these problems have been solved by Apple through a replacement program for these devices. However, we still find users who, like me, find the battery consumption totally insufficient in both iOS 10.2 and iOS 10.3 Beta. And it is that consumption and autonomy are becoming ridiculous, that's why we ask ourselves, What is happening with the battery of the iPhone 6s gentlemen of Apple? Let's take a look at the main issues.

To give you an idea, I currently have 69% battery power in an iPhone 6s that was disconnected from the power grid just 5 hours and 12 minutes ago. However, it marks around 3h and 9 minutes of use. On the other hand, we turn to the consumption statistics and we see that WhatsApp has consumed 3,4 hours in the background, just as Spotify has done the same. However, on my device, like many others, background activity is disabled for this reason.

It clearly doesn't work, but it doesn't seem like the only serious problem. When we see that the battery is not going to arrive even in the middle of the day, we grab the "battery saving mode", a mode that not only seems to do nothing, but the battery seems to drain even faster. On an iPhone 6s, all it does is change the color of the icon.

What is the problem? I have many battery saving methods, all bundled together in the configuration of my device that runs on iOS 10.3 Beta 1. However, The same effect is shown in iOS 10.2 official version. Currently, even though Apple admits that the iPhone 6s battery currently has a problem, however, it seems that they do little or nothing to solve it.

Tell us about your experience, How long does the iPhone 6s battery last? We want to know more or less if the majority of users suffer from the same problem.

It happens exactly the same. Just yesterday I saw my battery drain in a few minutes; The fact was, I was sending photographs on WhatsApp and these were many (I admit it) but, it became exaggerated that from 59% it will suddenly drop to 55% and thus, little by little, it will reach 41%. I do not know what is happening but I hope they find a prompt solution for this because it is desperate.

Exactly the same thing happens to you. I have to recharge the phone after 12 hours from full charge, without using the Internet and with moderate use in calls. With other brands of mobile phones with Android system I have not had this problem. Apple has to give an urgent solution.

      1.    Concepcion Gonzalez said

The same thing happens in my 6s; the battery lasts at most 5 hours without extreme use. I have contacted the Technical Service 3 times and they do a test and they tell me that the battery is healthy. So much so that I bought another mobile which, of course, is not from Apple that I no longer want to see.

It is clear that the problem is with the software because I have everything under minimums, without automatic updates or in the background, with battery saving, without app communications ...

What is not received is that a phone that cost me € 700 has this problem, and I am afraid that the company does not give a damn, the important thing is to invoice, but for my part, buying them is over.

      Good morning
I bought an Iphone 6s 15 days ago, and the battery is giving me a lot of problems.
Comment that while they brought it to me, they lent me another Iphone 4s for 6 days, and also
it gave me a lot of battery problems.
I don't know how Apple will react when I take it in for repair.

It happens to me exactly the same, my iPhone 6s runs out super fast, but thank goodness that it charges "fast" within what it fits. Still, it is always good to have an external battery.

  3.   AJFdz said

The same thing happens to me even faster, I have 6s of 64 Gb, the battery is not up to date! You rarely see it at 100% as it lasts just long enough and even at 20% or even longer it sometimes turns off! You turn it on again and it has a battery, the battery plummets when you are doing something. Looking at what you spend the most on, I see that it is Twitter and checking it I can tell you that it goes almost by the minute for 1% consumed. Hope they fix it soon, with a new update

I have had the iphone 6 plus, the 6s plus, and the 7 plus (current), and I have not had those problems that you mention with any ...
Have you tried to restore a clean copy without backup?
currently the 7 plus lasts about 13-14 hours of use and usually still has 15% left.
    all the best

Since I went up to ios 10.2, my battery goes out on my iphone 6s plus

    1.    Amanda said

The battery of the plus versions has greater autonomy, that of my iPhone 6 Plus lasts up to 5 or more days, that of my iPhone 6s does not exceed a day.

  6.   Saul Corts said

I join the previous answers. I do not see that Apple is caring much about what happens to us who have these devices.

  7.   iñaki said

When the battery is consumed at that speed, it is usually because there is usually an application or something that is forcing the CPU to be with a high consumption (for example, 40% of the CPU is being used constantly). many times this happens after OTA updates accompanied by previous application configuration files along with a later update. Although it seems complicated, the solution is to do a clean installation of ios 10.2 or 10.2.1 without restoring from backup.
my 7 plus usually lasts for 13-14 hours of use.
the 6s plus about 10 hours he used to take
and the 6 plus about 12 hours.
    all the best

I had a problem with my iPhone 6S 64GB battery and I enter into the replacement of Apple batteries. Since they changed it, it works perfectly for a day and a half with normal use. As an anecdote, I stopped using Facebook on my mobile, only when I want to see it I put the password again. I hope the problems are solved soon.
    All the best

I always play the china and it seems that this time not. It is true that I do not use the iPhone much, but the battery lasts 2 days. I'm going to watch the battery thoroughly to see what happens.

    1.    AlexVanHalen said

I also have a 6Gb iphone 64S, and I enter the battery replacement program. They gave it to me yesterday, I restored my backup ... and I see that it continues with the same problem of battery consumption.

I will try to do the installation from scratch, without restoring backup.

My Apple has changed the battery of my 6s and now, finally, it is going as it should go. By the way, they have given me one from 1800, not from 1715 as it is the original one.

My impression of the battery is quite good; It is true that I use few applications of intensive use (games and others), but at work I use several applications with a 3G / 4G connection (the coverage is horrible) and it can take 36-hour shifts. I have a 6S and I have not considered the battery replacement program because I have no problem.

I have this problem every day even with the "battery saver" activated. I don't have whatsapp and I don't use iMessage much.

    Hello,
For my iPhone 6, in addition to the battery life less, I have noticed another somewhat uncomfortable error that, although I do not understand this, I am sure it is a software failure. I detail you:

If the battery is below 50% and I turn off the iPhone (for example, at night), when I turn it on again it turns off as if it had no battery. There is no way to turn it on.

In order to use it, you have to trick it by connecting it to the charger. Once turned on, the battery shows the same% that I dyed, and I can unplug it to use it normally.

    Quite a hassle, right?

I have an iphone 6s plus 64 with ios 9.3.3 and perfect, my wife has an iphone 6 16 and with ios 9.3.3 she never had problems, she decided to go up to ios 10.2 and the battery problems started. It smells to me that the operating system is the culprit.

The same thing happens to me with the battery, I don't get to a day. 6s 64 ios 10.2

  17.   coca colo said

I must be the only one doing well. I bought a second-hand 6Gb iPhone 64S ignoring this problem, and the first thing I did was calibrate the battery. The first use, I removed it at 10:00 am and it lasted until 13:00 pm the day after. Today, giving it a more intensive use, I removed it around 10:00 and at this time it is around 55%

The same thing happens to my iphone 6: if it reaches 49% in 30 min, it will have less than 20% !! And without using whatsapp, or spotify or any other program ... the problems appeared when installing IOS 10.1 in case it helps

  19.   David Villaescusa Ruiz said

Totally agree, from iOS 10 onwards I have noticed a downturn in terms of battery life. When I went to Apple with the 9x, I boasted of battery and was very happy, now bordering on embarrassing.

Both my wife and I have an iPhone 6, the battery does not last half a day and it turns off with 40% battery, or drops from 30 to 10% in a few steps. You plug it in after having turned off with 40% battery and as soon as it is turned on it has the same percentage. : /

In my particular case I always had problems with the battery in my 6s, already in ios 9 or 10. I never reached a day of use and it was a constant that the equipment turned off by 15%. Last week I replaced my battery as my mobile was in the replacement program and I must admit that the situation has completely changed in these first days.
I currently have 23 hours and 38 minutes of standby and 4 hours and 7 minutes of use and the battery is at 58%. I don't know if this is good or bad but I have never had this performance. I will continue testing it anyway.

  22.   pocho1c said

I have had several IPhone 6s and the only one that gave me a battery failure was the one with a Samsung chip, the ones with a TMSC chip gave me no problem. The one I currently use has a TMSC chip, they gave it to me in December because it had a Samsung chip and I changed it using the warranty as the battery did not perform well.

  23.   Aaron Ontiveros said

In my experience with IPhone 6s I have had several with a TMSC chip working very well and only one with a Samsung chip, the latter I had to take under warranty due to the poor performance of the battery, fortunately they changed it for another with a TMSC chip which is the I currently use and it works excellent. Maybe that's the problem.

What happens to the battery of the iphone 6s? Nothing.
Ahh ya, you mean the ones that update the ios every two x three; Well, yes, surely something will happen to them, not to mention everything ...
Iphone 6s with the original ios as standard and ZERO battery problems, in fact ZERO problems!

  25.   Alfonso said

In my case the 6S turned off at 20 or even 30% battery and did not turn on. It didn't go into the battery change program either. Fixed by calibrating the battery

  26.   Marcos Cuesta (@marcueza) said

The verdict is ios 10 the culprit, I have no doubt. I have not seen any comments that had the ios 9 with battery problems.

  27.   White said

here too. IPhone 6 plus that reaches 35% and turns off I plug it in and it returns to 40 at the time.
    I do not understand anything!

  28.   Eladius said

In my case, I can have the battery with 15% to 24% battery and suddenly it turns off and the icon of plugging the charger appears.
By doing this, I can turn on the phone and it appears with this last% of battery.
I can't finish using 100% of the battery on my iPhone 6

  29.   Jaume said

I have an iPhone 6s Plus and I have the same battery problems that the normal 6s has.
I have contacted Apple and as a solution, they tell me that they change the battery and I pay for the repair.
I do not find it fair that having a 6s Plus with the same problem as the 6s, I have to pay for the repair and the 6s do not.
    Very bad apple

Use a 6Gb iPhone 16s for three months. The battery was a serious problem. Consulting a "Battery Life" app, the NEW battery, so to speak, was already 0.9% unusable. I was able to trade it in for an iPhone 7 and did it right away. Difference? Yes, and abysmal. My new iPhone lasts all day without requiring me to enter savings mode. I think that Apple, as well as Samsung, also made a mistake in the batteries of their devices, in this case, the iPhone 6s.

Hello, from this side of the pond (Chile) the same thing happens with the iPhone 6s, I have tried everything, erase it completely, use a backup, etc. the battery goes alone ... writing 1 only WhatsApp you lose at least 1% ... the battery is really bad ... and it also works strange, there are days when I arrive until 11 at night and I have 35% and others when I I have 7% at 5pm… the phone is fine, but the battery is bad. Good, greetings

Hi, the same thing happens to me since I updated to 10.2 and I still resist 10.2.1, the battery goes down faster. I have come to observe that before it did not spend almost anything and now even in rest it spends (from 93% to 85% in 2 hours, system totally clean and finished updating).

I have an iPhone 6s and I have the same problem, we already tried everything, the battery was changed in an Apple Store and it remains the same, it lasts 3 or 4 hours maximum and hot, did any find a solution to this problem?

Well, after a few months I receive an iPhone 6s with a Samsung chip again and it continues to have battery problems (it lasts little and overheats) 1 month ago I left one with a TMSC chip and it worked perfectly.

The Iphone 6s plus was perfect for me until the IOS 10.2 update, at which point the battery problems began. I went to an Apple Store and they checked the consumption but the battery was perfect. They could not give me a reason why the excessive consumption and overheating. Now, the most curious thing of all is that, sometimes and without being able to determine any cause, it works perfectly as before the update for a few days.

Hello good, I am writing to you from Chile. I have the 6GB 64s and the battery sucks, it drops from 90% to 75% in less than 30 minutes. I have done the test to keep the brightness at maximum and watch or record videos simultaneously, and the battery does not last more than an hour. A few days ago they changed the battery in MacStore for the replacement program. But it remains exactly the same. A shame.
