My iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black four months later

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus hardly had any aesthetic novelties, although there were many internal changes. However, there was one color that was totally new and that made an impact during the presentation last September: the new Jet Black or gloss black. But almost at the same time, the surprise was followed by many doubts about the durability of such a delicate finish that even Apple itself warned on its website that it was advisable to use a cover with this smartphone. Shortly after, social networks were filled with photos of iPhone 7 Jet Black damaged in just a few days with the entire surface scratched and even paint peeled off. Is it really that delicate? I show you my iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black four months later to check it, both in video and photos.

The reviews and photos were so much that it was easy to catch paranoia and the first days with my new iPhone in hand I really took care of it as if I had the most delicate thing in the world with me. Little by little everything returns to normal, and the reality is that I have taken care of this iPhone like any other model I have had, that is, a lot. I had no doubt that this Jet Black was going to be my option from the first minute I saw it, and if it was necessary to take care of it a little more than normal, it certainly wasn't going to be a problem for me. But it has not even been necessary to do so.

In fact for the first time from my iPhone 4s I have used a bumper as the main cover for most of the time. When I wanted to change the cover I used two transparent ones, a semi-rigid from Just Mobile and a soft silicone from Spigen. Despite wearing the back of my iPhone almost always exposed as you can see in the photos and video, there is no damage to note.

This was one of the areas that worried me the most from the first moment: the Lightning connector. I almost always use a docking station, and that means you usually have to "feel out" to connect the iPhone, and that could have scratched that area.. But the reality is that just a few small abrasions that are difficult to appreciate with a close look and that go unnoticed in the photos.

Although it is difficult to appreciate in the photos (in the video they look better) Yes, some small abrasions have appeared on the edges, probably from removing and putting on the rigid cover, but they cannot be seen with the naked eye. Only with a lot of light and looking closely you notice those small scratches that do not show the metal but that do interrupt the perfectly polished surface of the Jet Black.

In short, it is true that I am a particularly careful person with my devices, but it is also true that I use my iPhone daily (and a lot), my little ones also use it sometimes, even some fall has existed (always with a case). Is the iPhone Jet Black as delicate as it seemed? Of course, those who think that it is like the black iPhone 5 that peeled around the edges, it is not true. Each one to draw their conclusions but I do not regret their purchase in the least.
