iPhone SE and iPhone 8 disassembled are very similar

iPhone SE

Always happens. As soon as a new Apple device comes out on the market, there are always people willing to take it apart and mess it up inside. And this time it was not the iFixit technicians, who are usually the first to gut the new products designed in Cupertino.

This time it has been a user who has disassembled the new iPhone SE presented a week ago and has compared it with its predecessor, the iPhone 8. And at first glance it seems that Apple has not killed much redesigning the new iPhone, really.

Seeing the image of the new iPhone SE disassembled next to iPhone 8 in the same way, it seems like one of those hobbies to find the 6 differences. A priori Apple has not bothered much to redesign the device for a new one. It has simply improved certain internal components and herding.

User Rico Cerva has posted a video on Instagram comparing the two disassembled models. The video offers a detailed look at the iPhone SE teardown process. Internally, the device looks almost identical to the iPhone 8, with the biggest differences from the processor. A13 and a different modem.

The video even walks through the process of exchanging components between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone SE, with different levels of success depending on the module to be changed. For example, Switching LCD between both devices works, but the camera exchange does not.

The first iPhone SE orders are expected to reach customers starting today, April 24. We hope to see more teardown videos soon, especially from friends at iFixit, a whole classic. For now, we are content with this video to get a closer look at the interiors of the iPhone SE compared to the iPhone 8.

At first glance they are identical, since most of the components have not changed. The improvements, an updated processor and a different communications modem, have simply been made by swapping one component for another. The rest of the device is exactly the same.
