The people of iHelicopters have given us the opportunity to test one of their models with an integrated camera that, in addition to being controlled from the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, records video and takes pictures during the flight. The model in question is the iSpy Helicopter and in its lower part the presence of the VGA camera that we have mentioned is appreciated.
The first thing we have to do before we can control the iSpy Helicopter is download the free application that we find in the App Store. Once downloaded, we open it and select the helicopter model that we want to control remotely. Next we have to connect the IRDA transmitter It plugs into the iPhone's audio jack and turn the volume up to maximum. Finally, it only remains to turn on the helicopter and start the flight.
It must be taken into account that for the correct handling of the iSpy Helicopter it is recommended be in a wide place to prevent the propellers from hitting an object or even ourselves, something that could cause us harm. The maximum range of the IRDA transmitter is around 10 meters, so you can get an idea of the flight area that we have.
The handling is quite simple. The application has a vertical slider that regulates the height of the helicopter on the ground and an analog stick to control the direction. There is also the possibility of using accelerometers in case this control system seems more comfortable.
To start video recording or take pictures, the application has two buttons that activate and deactivate these functions. To save all the files that the camera generates, the iSpy helicopter has a microSD card slot, including the 512MB that comes standard and that we can replace with a higher capacity one if we think it is convenient.
What the camera captures cannot be seen on the iPhone screen, it is necessary to extract the memory card and connect it to the computer to enjoy the recordings and photographs taken. The results are quite good although it is missing having a higher resolution.
Autonomy may be another weak point for many of you and that is that the helicopter is capable of maintaining flight for a few 10 minutes, time from which we will have to recharge it for 45 minutes using the USB cable that the manufacturer incorporates.
The price of the iSpy Helicopter is U.S. dollar 69,95 and you can buy it on the manufacturer's website.

Sorry but Spy and recorded only the Mac screen ??????? That's all????
haha, you wanted me to record the neighbors across the street taking a shower or something?
It is not about showing that the spy helicopter is, but about showing the quality with which the built-in camera records. Greetings
Man, but at least one flight, right? and see how the garbacion looks while doing it
Of course! That's what I mean! If you are going to have a HELICOPTER at least make it fly over the grass, water, I don't know! Finally show your house!
Like I said, you need ample space to fly the helicopter and since I'm moving, it's not a great idea to say to fly the helicopter at home.
It is a device that weighs very little and if you fly outdoors, there must be zero wind, something that has not occurred in the time I have been with the helicopter.
If you want to see more, the manufacturer has another video on youtube:
