Following the releases of the new versions of all Apple operating systems, which we remember that released the final versions of iOS 9.3.3, OSX 10.11.6 and the third betas of iOS 10, tvOS 10, watchOS 3 and macOS Sierra, those of Cupertino also launched yesterday afternoon (in Spain) iTunes 12.4.2, a new version that comes to, as we read in the Mac App Store, solve only one problem.
This is the second update to iTunes since they introduced the previous changes that we all hope they will release later, changes that will simplify things even more and that should resemble those included in iOS 10. As in the next version of the mobile operating system of apple, the changes introduced in iTunes are intended to make things easier for subscribers of Apple Music and also to non-subscribers, but in the second case the news is minor.
What's New in iTunes 12.4.2
As we can read in the Mac App Store:
This update fixes a playback issue with short Apple Music songs in the Up Next queue.
If you do not know what problem the description above refers to, it is a small bug that I have never personally experienced: in iTunes 12.4.1, when there was a song less than 60s in the "Next" queue and it was his turn, there was a bug that I read something about in his day but I don't remember what exactly it was, but he could skip it.
On the other hand, and although nothing is mentioned, it is likely that iTunes 12.4.2 is necessary to be able to synchronize our iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad with iOS 10 beta 3 our Mac or PC. In fact, I upgraded my iPad earlier and it wouldn't allow me to sync until I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes. If they don't release another version with minor fixes until September, the next update could come with major changes… if you plan to introduce them.
