iTunes to receive major design changes at WWDC, according to Gurman

iTunes 13

Little by little we are learning more details of what we will see at the WWDC that will begin next Monday, June 13. If there are no surprises, Siri will be the star of the event, but the new version of Apple Music will also occupy a relatively important position. We already knew that the iOS Music application would receive design changes to make everything more intuitive, but we did not know that iTunes will also receive changes to its interface.

Who continues to provide details of everything that Apple will present before becoming official is the former editor of 9to5mac and new editor of Bloomberg, who has responded via Twitter to some queries. To begin with, Gurman has denied that Apple is going to eliminate downloads (purchases) from iTunes, the music store, or at least "not yet", so we can understand that it is a step they will take in the medium-term future. What we have closer to is a redesign of the OS X player that aims to simplify core functions of the application and better differentiate between the different musical proposals of Apple.

iTunes will also be redesigned

But… Apple will show off a redesigned version of iTunes for Mac at WWDC. It will be released in October with (OS X) 10.12. Matches the redesigned Apple Music.

Apparently, the new version of iTunes will come from the hand of OS X 10.12 after summer (probably October). I have read in different media that Apple should separate iTunes into several applications, such as a video player on the one hand and the music library and its player on the other, but these changes will not come. The changes will be visual and organizational, something that already had a first episode in the iTunes 12.4 version.

Personally, I did not like the Apple player and I was always looking for alternatives until the launch of iTunes 11. At that time, I loved the official OS X player and I have been faithful to it until today. But I do have to admit that there is a change from the last version that I don't like: that the lists, selection of how to display the music, etc., are to the left of where the artists are shown, which is why I usually hide them. The bad thing is that if I hide that panel, I don't see other sections like the music that I have recently added either.

All I can say is that I hope the next version of iTunes leaves as good a taste in my mouth as it did in v11.
