Tutorial: jailbreak iOS 4.1 with Sn0wbreeze 2.1 (Windows)

Sn0wbreeze 2.1 can be defined as «Pwnage Tool for Windows, because jailbreak iOS 4.1 using custom firmware installed with iTunes. This allows you to keep the baseband.

(If you have already updated to 4.1 you CANNOT keep the baseband, you cannot download it and you cannot unlock your iPhone)

Compatibility:

  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 4
  • iPod Touch 2G
  • iPod Touch 3G
  • iPod Touch 4G
  • iPad (both models)
  • Apple TV 2G

You need:

  • Windows operating system (7, Vista, XP);
  • Sn0wbreeze 2.1 for Windows (download)
  • iOS 4.1 of your device (Download)

TUTORIAL:

1. Open Snowbreeze 2.1 and click OK on the first message that appears.

2. At this time the screen shows the credits. Close this window by clicking on «Close Credits». Then select expert mode and click the blue arrow to continue.

3. We are in the main screen Sn0wbreeze 2.1. Click on the blue arrow in the lower right to continue.

4. Click Browse and find the original firmware 4.1 that you have downloaded to your PC.

Sn0wbreeze will verify that the firmware you have selected is correct.

5. Once it recognizes the firmware on the next screen you will see the device model you want to jailbreak. Now click the blue arrow again to continue.

6. You will arrive at a page that allows you to access different functions.

Click on General and press activate the iPhone if you need Hackivation (if your iPhone does not use the original sim of your company)

All other elements are optional and are used for funds, multitasking and battery percentage (of devices that do not natively support these functions). You can also change the system partition dedicated to Cydia programs.

Ultrasn0w cannot be installed automatically for now, this due to some issues between MuscleNerd (author of the program) and iH8sn0w. Once you have completed the changes in this section, click the blue arrow.

7. On the next screen you can add packages and repositories in Cydia and avoid doing it manually using the iPhone at a later time. Finish in this case the changes, click on the blue arrow.

8. Click Create IPSW and click Next.

The program will start creating custom firmware based on the parameters you have set.

9. Once you are done you have to put the iPhone in DFU mode. Sn0wbreeze will show you the steps to follow.

10. Now iTunes will detect an iPhone in recovery mode. To install the new custom firmware you have to simultaneously press the SHIFT key on the keyboard and press Restore in iTunes.

11. Now select the firmware that you created earlier and wait a few minutes for the process to complete.

12. Completed. Now that we have our iPhone with jailbreak, we only have to open Cydia and install ultrasn0w to free it.

    Hello there:

Thank you very much and congratulations on the web.

when I restore the custom firmware I get error 1601 in itunes

  8.   Bitrate said

I have already created it for an iPhone 3G and when it finishes restoring it does not go beyond the block.

I have already tried with two custom firmware and in both the same problems.

@ josebc83 uses the recboot program it will probably help you to get out of that error that you comment.

Hi, the sn0wbreeze link doesn't work?
by the way would this clean my iphone completely? photos, notes….?

  11.   Alejandro said

If someone manages to do it 100% please comment, because it left me in the encycled apple

    And this is tested?

New Sn0wbreeze and new botch like the previous version.

It does not work on a 3G, I repeat, it does not work from a custom 4.1 or from version 3.1.2.

The process works until the iPhone finishes the restoration and there it stays in the eternal apple.

This solves the problem that the previous version had of not being able to save backup copies in iTunes? It also solves the youtube that is not activated even with a FIX ????

In iPod Touch 2G I have already tried it 4 times, the restoration finishes and ... and nothing, the screen remains black (off) and I get the message in iTunes that it has detected a device in recovery mode, and so on every time … Psss: S

  15.   Bitrate said

It does not solve any problem, on the contrary, it creates a very large one and it is that after the restoration it does not go beyond the starting block.

For those who have the iPhone 3G and the iPod touch of 2 gen they have to use ireb ... They run it as administrator and then they give the online mode they wait for the process to finish and now if they restore with the modified firm that they did with the sn0wbreeze I hope that I do it like that and it always works… Greetings from Costa Rica

Those of you who have problems, try using iReb first, to see how it works.

At the moment this version brings a couple of bugs. These are the ones that I have been able to verify.
1.- In ipod touch 2g after restoring with CFW, the device stays in DFU
2.- In iphone 3g, after restoring with the CFW, the device does not start, it remains stuck in the apple, it does not remain in recovery, it simply does not start, and you have to restore.
The other people who are jailbreaking iphone 3gs and 4, ipod 3g and 4g please report results.
At the moment these are my solutions to the ipod 2g and iphone 2g.
For 2g ipods we can use greenpois0n (including MC models), we can also use redsn0w 0.9.6 b2 (not including MC).
For Iphone 3g, I recommend doing the following to install a CFW without uploading the baseband:
1.-put our device in DFU PWN mode, with redsn0w 0.9.6 b2
2.- create our cfw with sn0wbreeze 2.0.2, at the end, let the ired that brings the sn0wbreeze run or, if applicable, run the 4.0.x-4.1 ired. In this way, the ired has never failed me.
    3.- install CFW with itunes.
    Salu2
