Kimoji, a predictable but little deserved success

Kardashian

For a few years it seems that everything Kim Kardashian touches turns to gold, or at least that is the conclusion that anyone can draw after seeing how the game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood generated 200 over million in income. A figure within the reach of very few applications.

Limitations

Kimoji's first problem comes from Apple's limitations. We all know that iOS is closed for some aspects and this application cannot get its full potential for that reason. Own name of the application can lead us to confusion, since in reality it is about images that we must paste in WhatsApp conversations and not pure emoji.

It is true that the application works as expected with iMessages, this being a very popular messaging system in the United States (due to the very high market share that the iPhone has) but the same does not happen with the other applications, as we have commented before. This has generated a great controversy in the reviews of the app, since many users are frustrated and even say they feel cheated, not in vain the average score of the app is one and a half star.

Debatable purchase

At the level of usability there is not much to highlight, since the application has a purpose tremendously obvious and therefore they have not had to do a great design exercise. It is noticeable that they know that their audience approach is not exactly the most advanced in terms of technological domain, so taking any action is really simple and does not require great knowledge.

Obviously, the app has been and sigue being a hit on the App Store. We are talking about Kim Kardashian, who has more than 56 million followers on Instagram, so a simple photo causes a barrage of downloads that catapults her to the first position of the top in a matter of hours, as is obvious.

The application has a sale price of $1,99 or dollars, a price that despite being theoretically low, is expensive if we stick to what it offers and how it offers it. It will be necessary to see if Apple over time allows to put personalized emojis, but until then it will not be possible to use it 100% natively and of course that as a possible purchase it can be difficult to find a justification, at least today.
