Our friend Ming-Chi Kuo has returned to release some interesting information. He rubs shoulders with the major manufacturers that provide the components that make up Apple devices, so he usually has "insider" information, and his predictions are often well founded.
Today he has published a new press release where he predicts three new devices that Apple will bring to the market. A new Inexpensive 10,8-inch iPad, an iPad mini larger than the current one, and that the Apple Glasses are very green and they are delayed until 2022. Of course, if it is true, we will have many iPads to choose from ...
Kuo today released a note to investors explaining that Apple will launch a new 10,8 inch iPad during the second half of 2020, followed by a new iPad mini which is between 8,5 inches and 9 inches during the first half of 2021.
It seems that these two new models will share the philosophy of the newly released iPhone SE: inexpensive devices with state-of-the-art chips. Apple wants to offer products for all budgets. It's not a bad idea.
Two new screen sizes for iPads
The Apple glasses project is very green. At least until 2022 nothing.
It could be that the "affordable" 10,8-inch iPad that Kuo refers to in his report is a new version of the current 10,2-inch iPad or 10,5-inch iPad Air. It is also possible that this new iPad come with Touch ID on screen, as has been rumored.
Also interesting is the idea of a new larger iPad mini than now. Apple currently sells the iPad mini with a 7,9-inch screen. They may be reducing the iPad mini's bezel sizes to fit the larger 8,5-inch / 9-inch screen in a similar form factor. It is unclear if this would remove the home button, perhaps bringing in Touch ID or Face ID.
Finally, Kuo has also made reference to the Apple Glasses. He assures that the company has this project still very green. says he will launch Apple Glasses sometime in 2022 "At the earliest." The report explains that Apple's glasses will be complicated and expensive to make.
