Limbo, a magnificent indie game hitting the App Store

It is difficult to define Limbo, since the concept of the game does not fully adapt to what it gives us. It is something more, a mixture of emotions and art that does not need colors to generate one of the most sublime masterpieces of recent times in the world of entertainment. And it can already be enjoyed on iOS.

In the shadows

Obviously the first thing that strikes you about Limbo is its monocolor tonality, using a grayscale and possibly making the game so great for this very reason. The colors would be unnecessary, they would take away the intrigue that it gives off and it would be without the majesty that it shows us in every second of play.

The first contact with the game is strange, since we are not facing something usual. We have the possibility to move laterally, jump and use an action button, so the diversity of controls is not the problem, that is obvious. The good thing comes from using those few actions to discover a new world in which we must pay attention to each and every detail, and in which we will have the opportunity to discover that in video games there are many things beyond the graphics.

Its not that easy

What a priori may seem uncomplicated then is not. Limbo hides problems of logic and precision that we do not expect when we start to play and that sometimes will make us wonder where the solution is in order to move forward. The difficulty curve is quite well adjusted and will allow us to adapt to new situations with ease, but there are some specific points that may be a bit frustrating for some players less used to this type of game.

The sound is also really important, being very advisable to play with headphones. There will be sounds that help us solve puzzles or anticipate moments that will happen shortly after, so I consider it almost essential to pay close attention to the audio. What's more, playing without headphones from my point of view is ruining the experience.

As we progress in the game, we become much more comfortable, and above all we understand more about the greatness of the game, while we hope with all the forces of the world that it does not end. It's a shame when it happens, but Limbo leaves you wanting so much more from the moment we finish the adventure. But like all good things, it ends.
