Mario Kart Tour is the latest title launched by the Japanese company Nintendo on the mobile device market, a game that despite having reached 123,9 million downloads during the first month, is generating very little money through the different in-app purchases that it integrates.
The limitations that the game offers when it comes to obtaining rewards without making use of in-app purchases are limiting the interest of the players and little by little they are stopping playing. To try to fix that problem, The company has announced a new game mode: multiplayer.
This new game mode, which many users consider essential, will allow us to compete with our friends. According to the Japanese company, the multiplayer mode will be available in beta next month and, to continue making friends, only available to users of the gold pass (paid).
With the 123,9 million downloads that Mario Kart Tour has had, the revenue generated through in-app purchases stands at 37,4 million dollars. This supposes an average spend of $ 0,26 per user.
The Nintendo game that has generated the most money compared to the number of downloads is Dragalia Lost, a game that with only 1,8 million downloads during its first month, raised an average per player of $ 16,5.
The second most profitable title for the company, if we compare the downloads with the money generated, is Fire Emblem Heroes, a game that reached 9,7 million downloads in the first month and generated 67,6 million downloads, $ 6,9 per user on average.
Nintendo is a company, like Apple, that are to make money. But the case of in-app purchases of some company titles is especially striking, since it is not the first time that you have chosen a monetization that is not to everyone's liking, as was also the case with Super Mario Run.
