Although relatively late, I have decided to talk about this function of the Photos application because I have been using it a lot lately because I find it interesting, which has contributed to the fact that these photo memories are usually created automatically without requiring any type of action on the part of the owners of the photos. an iPhone or iPad.

Personally, I think that many users will not even access the function, despite the fact that as soon as they open the application IOS 10 Photos we can see a section with his name. We will access it by tapping on the second section or tab, the one that has an icon that connects a triangle (Play or play) and a circular arrow surrounding it. Just by entering here, without doing anything else, the application will show photos that it thinks have something to do with it and will present them to us in different ways.

Automatic memories

As I have just explained, if we have not edited anything before, when accessing the Memories section We will see what our iPhone or iPad seems to coincide with the same event. I do not know what parameters the function uses to link the photos, but it does usually put photos taken on the same date or in the same location in the same bag. In this way, it has automatically created for me several memories of several trips that I have made or one less interesting that joins several photos taken in the same month, and in this case it will also put photos that we have downloaded online or we have made any changes to them That makes you think that it was done in a specific month (I have photos in "October" that were made in August).

How to edit our Memories

While what the function does by itself is fine, we can always sharpen things up a bit. We will be able to slightly edit the memories, which includes delete some photos or, what is more interesting, modify the presentation video, which is the memory itself, but we will explain that in the next point. To edit a memory by deleting photos we will do the following:

1. We select the memory from which we want to delete the photos.
2. We played on Select.
3. Next, we touch on the images that we want to delete.
4. Finally, we tap on the trash can and confirm by tapping on Delete X photos.

How to play and edit the video of a Memory

Videos are surely the most important part of this feature that came with iOS 10. Photos are fine, but they are a still image that can tell you very little. What we will see in a video-souvenir it will be nothing other than a slideshow with background music, but the good thing is that we can share it so that any of our contacts can see it. To view a video-memory on our iPhone (the one that contains the original photos) we only have to:

1. We access the Memories tab.
2. We choose a memory. At this point, we will see a header image at the top with a triangle (play or playback).
3. To see the video we only have to touch the triangle.

What if we don't like what we see? Well, we can make some changes to the video as follows:

1. While the video is playing, we touch the screen. We will see that all the options appear. The first thing we will touch will be on the pause symbol or in all probability we will not have time to edit the video.

2. Here we have two editing options:
   • Simple: here we can choose if we want the video to be short, medium or long, depending on the number of photos that the memory has. We can also choose a theme between Dreamy, Sentimental, Soft, Relaxed, Happy, Uplifting, Epic, Fun or Extreme. What we will change with the latter will basically be the background music and the title text of the memory.
   • Advanced: if we touch on the settings icon, similar to the potentiometers of an equalizer, we will access an advanced edition that will allow us to change the title of the memory, the music, the duration, which will be useful to adjust the time in which they appear the photos (although the duration is general) and we can also add or delete photos, where I miss that it allows us to add any photo from the reel.

3. Once the edition is finished, the memory will remain like this on our iPhone, but we can share it. To do this and as always, we will touch the share icon (the square with the arrow) to share it by any means, such as WhatsApp, shared photos or any compatible service.

What if I want to create my own memory?

Personally I think Apple should have created something more intuitive, but there is a way to add memories manually in their entirety. We will achieve this by following these steps:

1. The secret is to create a new album. We can do it in several ways, but I recommend starting by going to the reel or album where we have the photos that we want to add to the memory.
2. Next, we tap on Select and select the photos that will be part of our manual recall.

3. At the bottom will appear Add. We touch on that text.
4. In the next step, we'll tap on "New album ..." and give it a name. The one in my example was "Test", but the autocorrect has decided to rename what you see in the screenshot.
5. Now we go to the Albums tab.
6. We play on the album that we created in step 4.
7. Above we will see a period of time in which the photos that we have added have been taken. We play here.
8. Here we will see that something very similar or exact to what we see when accessing a memory. Everything will be exactly the same, but there is still one step left.

9. To save it in the tab created for it, we slide down and touch on Add to Memories. The good thing about creating a memory manually is that we will have total freedom when choosing which photos are part of it.
