Microsoft surprised us today with the announcement of Office Mobile for iOS and Android. Those of Redmond are aware that more and more users are using office automation applications on tablets and mobile phones. Nowadays no one expects to get home and open the computer to answer an email, or consult an excel file when you can do it from your iPad or iPhone.
Today Microsoft Office Mobile was presented in society. A single application that integrates Word, Excel and PowerPoint, among others, to become a site in the pocket office automation currently led by Google Docs.
It is not the first time that Microsoft has tried to be in tow of Google. A few months ago, the Windows company introduced its new browser, Edge Chromium, based on the Chrome engine, Google's browser.
Now it presents its famous Office suite integrated into a single application for mobile devices and tablets, both iOS and Android, in the image and likeness of Google Docs.
Microsoft has explained in its presentation that Office Mobile provides a simple and integrated experience on a mobile device. Group Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into one application. Apart from considerably reducing the space required for its installation with respect to the previous independent applications, adds new functions appropriate to the type of device, such as the camera.
Now we can use the camera to create documents within Office. With this, the application allows you to easily convert photos of documents and tables into Word and Excel files, or add them to your PowerPoints. You can also create PDF from photos, sign documents with your finger, scan QR codes, etc.
Office Mobile is in public preview as of today, running through the program TestFlight Apple limited to the first 10.000 users. If you have a Microsoft account, you will be able to access all the documents you have in your cloud. The final version will be out shortly. First for iPhone, and soon for iPad. That Microsoft is turning to the mobile application market is welcome news, without a doubt.
