Throughout the month of July, we have seen how the guys at PayPal have been reaching important agreements with the greats to be able to offer their payment technology through an email address to send money. In the first place, it was Apple who finally allowed us to add our PayPal account to make payments for Apple apps or services. Soon after, the PayPal integration came to Amazon to pay for purchases we make at the world's largest online store. Now it's the turn of Skype, who Through PayPal it already allows us to send money to our friends quickly and easily.
If it is true that the greats like Microsoft and Apple are late to the party, the integration it offers us with their ecosystems is one of the main advantages so that all those users who make use of applications to send or share money, go to the big ones. iOS 11 will offer us the ability to send and receive money through Apple Pay with the Messages application. Microsoft already allows it through Skype and I'm sure they won't be the only greats to do it.
At the moment and as usual, this function will arrive in the form of an update in the next few hours and will not be available worldwide, but will be restricted to 22 countries: United States, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
Unlike Apple, where the option to send money through Apple Pay with the messages application will be geographically limited to the United States, Skype is going big to try to attract as many users as possible. Presumably this Apple option will expand internationally shortly after being available in the United States.
