Who doesn't know the Wii by now? At the time, the Nintendo console revolutionized the market by offering a way of playing totally different from what we had seen so far. His command allowed reproduce in the game the movements made by the player, making some genres such as sports cars take on a much more immersive level.
Developer Rolocule wants iPhone users to we can enjoy a similar experience although for this, we need to meet a series of requirements.
The first is have a second or third Apple TV generation to enjoy the game on television thanks to the AirPlay protocol. If we don't have an AppleTV, we can use an AirPlay emulator for OS X or Windows.
The second requirement is have an iPhone 4S, an iPhone 5, or a fifth-generation iPod Touch. This is because for the game to be able to interpret our movements, the device must have accelerometers, compass and gyroscope, in addition, the hardware has to be powerful enough to translate the data collected, send the signal through AirPlay and process the graphics without affecting the gaming experience.
Finally, none of this is worth to us if we do not download Motion Tennis, the game that allows us to use our iPhone or iPod Touch as a racket.
On the whole, the result achieved is quite good although a notch below what the Wii offers. The iPhone perfectly captures our movements and we can vary the type of shot depending on the inclination of the terminal when we hit the ball.
To add more excitement to a game, we can invite another friend with an iPhone and enjoy a team game against opponents controlled by artificial intelligence.
What limitations do we find in Motion Tennis? The only one is that its performance it depends on the Wi-Fi connection in our home and if it is very saturated, lag can be a factor that spoils the gaming experience that has been tried to achieve in this game.
The system is novel and quite well achieved, however, the almost 7 euros that the game costs may not encourage you to buy it if you just want to try it out of curiosity.
