Movistar updates its application and fully integrates Face ID

Sometimes those who should be first become last. This is similar to what has happened to Movistar with its own application and biometric authentication that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), makes available to users.

Who we use Movistar We have realized that although it asks us for Touch ID, Face ID is actually running and authenticates us in the application. It is now, almost six months later, when Movistar decides to fully integrate Face ID into the application and it comes in the form of an update.

The update was published in the iOS App Store late yesterday and adds Face ID, in an integrated way -and not passing it through Touch ID- to its native authentication systems, which there will not be an effective improvement when using the application, since Face ID had been working for months, although the application did not identify it as such and gave us instructions that could be quite confusing. We are rather facing a redesign of the authentication screen than an improvement at the real software level. What has received an improvement is the Information Widget, one of its most useful tools and which is, in principle, the reason for the Movistar management application.

Another problem solved is that the notifications of the consumption threshold were not reproduced correctly when we had enabled the detection of our face to add an extra touch of privacy to the Notification Center. Be that as it may, the Movistar team has not seen fit to add any improvement to the notes, what we do know is that the Widget has returned to work in a stable way after having been "broken" for a couple of days. It has been due to a general tuning of the system. The application is completely free and can be used by users who have the Telefónica Movistar fixed or mobile telephone service, it does not reach 80 MB of memory -which is not little for an application like this- and it does not present notable compatibility problems
