My experience with iOS 9.3 betas so far

beta-ios-9-3

Today is exactly two weeks since the last beta that Apple released of iOS 9.3, so we must assume that the new version of it will be arriving, probably at 19.00:9.3 p.m. today. That is why many of you may be curious about what iOS XNUMX can offer us and if it will be worth updating our device. I personally always advise adopting the updates for simple security reasons, but there are many who fear that the performance of their iPhone will decrease with this one, That's why I'm going to tell you about my experience from the first beta of iOS 9.3 until today.

The supposed improvements that we find in iOS 9.3

night-mode-night-shift

We have spoken at length, especially our colleague Pablo Aparicio, about the improvements that the next update of Apple's mobile operating system will present to us. The most popular of all the new features was undoubtedly Night Shift, a function that didn't really make sense until the second beta, when Apple decided to include it directly in the iOS Control Center so that we can decide when and how we want Night Shift to activate. It is from here that I began to use it actively, and it is that those of us who spend our working day in front of a screen appreciate that the last emails we answer from our iOS device directly from bed we can use these yellowish tones that help to slightly rest our eyes. However, at first it may seem a bit strange and unrealistic.

The news regarding the Notes application was also well received, now we can enjoy the possibility of individually blocking with TouchID or unlocking code any of our notes within the application. Regarding the possibilities of updating Apple School Manager, different iPad accounts for the school environment and the news in News and CarPlay we can honestly consider them residual, as they will not affect our daily use of the device.

Battery consumption

battery

The battery is one of the main (if not the main) concerns of an iOS user with each update, since we have encountered real nonsense when it comes to battery consumption, coincidentally all after iOS 6. Device optimization is something Tim Cook promised for iOS 9 and iOS 10, wanting to reach the degrees of excellence that dragged from iOS 6, and is fulfilling it, that if, very little by little.

I cannot say that I have noticed excessive battery consumption in iOS 9.3 Beta, however, I must be honest and warn that the battery has been significantly predisposed to drain quickly, it is rare to find "home / lock screen" between the top 5 apps that consume the most and is there perennially. It is not that the battery is used very easily, in fact it lasts slightly less than with iOS 9.2.1, which on the other hand is quite common being a beta.

Totally irrelevant in terms of lag

ios 9.3 beta1.1

The beta has lag, yes, that word that seems unpronounceable within any Apple environment page, the beta has slightly slowed down the device, not in general, but specifically, We can find a fairly common little pull when using Spotlight, when entering Settings and especially when we take off the multitasking. On the other hand, I must be sincere and warn that it is something quite common in the first betas of any update of the operating system, so we hope that in this third beta that will arrive today or in the next ones that we hope will be the finals (I predict a maximum two more) these problems are solved.

Although I warn, do not expect anything out of the ordinary from iOS 9.3, honestly it does not seem to me more than a small polish of certain aspects of the operating system.

iOS 9 reminds me of what was once Windows ME or Windows Vista. Lamentable nonsense and attempts to improve some operating systems that were already going well ... Let's see if iOS 10 arrives and give it to 9 because we are going ... despicable that Apple at this point does this type of thing after paying what we pay for your devices.

Hi Xavi. I am not telling you this to start a debate, if not to tell you something that you may not know: Android was improving the same as iOS improved until 6, but its encryption is minimal: they only encrypt the / Data folder. iOS 8 introduced FULL system encryption and iOS 9 has even gone further (rootless).

In order to compare systems, the day will have to come when Android encrypts everything, not just a folder. To give you an idea, Ubuntu Touch, which is developed by Canonical, who developed what for me is the best system on the planet (but I do not use it due to its incompatibility), has not wanted to get into encryption for the same reason: performance issues. That is the only reason why iOS has lost performance in the last two versions.

      A greeting.

I have a 6s plus with iOS 9.3 beta 3 and it goes like a shot! It is clear that an iPad 2 is not going to run so smoothly ... By God it is 5 years old! And a 4 S ?? 500 mb of RAM ... I do not believe that there is a device on the market with that ram and that it is not even half as fast as the 4 S !!! The truth is, you complain about a vice, I understand that not everyone can change their iPhone every year but Apple or any other company cannot be held responsible for our solvency capacity! A device that is 4 years old or more cannot ask for more optimization than it has! In fact, I invite you to try any other device from another company of 4 years or more with those specifications and then return your opinion! Really, less complaints and if you really need more optimization on your device, save and buy the most powerful one, this is how technology works, lamenting is useless! Adapt or improve, but stop whining, that's for losers!

if Apple wanted to improve the performance of iPad 2 or iPhone 4 / 4s it would. The other day I discovered on this page an article that talks about behind, it is about downgrading to iOS 6. My iPad 2, flies!

Read what I have put below. It is not a problem of years, but of wills and operating system. I have a 4S downgraded to iOS 6 and the phone works exactly the same as the first day. There are still people who do not understand that updating the operating system every year makes you worse.

I totally agree ... it's the same as a computer, you can't put Windows 7 on an i3 with 2 cores than on an i5 with 4-6 cores ... that fluidity, it annoys me if ... but while the mobile moves it for me deluxe, another thing in the iPhone 4s will not be able to move it with iOS 9 ... but the asphalt 8 runs it which gives luxury ... so less whining and work , or buy another mobile from another company ...

What do you mean not? Well, from an i3 with Windows 10 I'm writing this ... Apple is a joke

  3.   R54 said

There are many people who are new to this world and have never experimented with iOS 6. If they had known that system in the iPhone 5 I think many people would have a very different opinion. From there the fluidity and optimization took a nosedive. Not to mention software design ...

    1.    Carlos said

I have an iPhone from 2G, I have had them all and I have tried OS all year including the betas ... Of course with iOS 6 it goes like the first day, that is precisely the good thing !!! In case a device with specific hardware is going to include software functions, the App with more functions and graphic requirements, etc ... It is logical that it loses performance ... We want everything! Performance, functions, speed, news, all with hardware from 5 years ago ... Sorry, not possible! It's a shame but that's the way it is! What I do not understand is how there is so much complainer !!! If you have a 4S or an iPad 2 what are you waiting for ??? Have Touch ID ??? You just have to be consistent and not blame our frustrations on others ... You want all the news and functions, with stability and power ... Well, buy yourself an iPhone 6S which is the latest model !!! That you cannot, well adapt with what you have in the best possible way! But it is not Apple's fault that it is a company, do not confuse them with your parents or something like that demanding things that are not acceptable!

      1.    R54 said

No, what I want is to be given the opportunity to choose. If I want an iPhone with fewer options and more fluidity (iOS 6) or I want an iPhone with more options and less fluidity (iOS 9). The problem is when only the second option is allowed in a clear attempt to buy the new model. That is my complaint, let me choose.

MY IPHONE STARTED TO EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF THE BATTERY SINCE I UPDATED TO IOS 9.2.1, AND IT DOES NOT IMPROVE WITH IOS 9.3. GO FROM CHARGING THE BATTERY ONCE A DAY TO HAVING TO DO IT THREE OR MORE TIMES.

    1.    Carlos said

You are right Nancy I tb since I downloaded 9.2.1 my battery was consuming very quickly ... I appreciate that you have commented on your experience with version 9.3 ... It is obvious that I will not update it
